Had a wonderful few nights stay at The Golden Lion. A fantastic location, walkable distance to the train station and all the main attractions. Rooms were well decorated, comfortable and clean. The view from my room was amazing! The breakfast was great. We also dined in the restaurant where the food and service were fantastic! I wouldn’t hesitate to come back on my next stay in Stirling. Thank you so much!
Just back from a 2 day stay with friends. Was concerned as I had seen reviews about rooms being cold. This certainly was not the case. Rooms warm at all times. We had to open windows. Maybe this will be helpfull for managent to keep there heating costs down. Food was great and on the whole staff were lovely. Maybe a few members of staff who may be new need to communicate better with customers. Management look as if they were planning some renovations for the bar area. Will definately be back
Been to this hotel a few times and it definitely seems a bit run down now.nPaid extra to stay in one of the renovated rooms on the high floor. Yes the room was slightly more modern but certainly not worth the extra cost. Not even a biscuit on the refreshment tray. Bathroom ceiling mouldy and no pressure in the shower. The room was a bit cold so took an extra cover out of the wardrobe which was covered in stains. It was also a twin room and we booked a double.nService at breakfast was atrocious. The girl serving was nice so can't really fault her. What used to be a buffet service is now table service which would be fine if you didn't have to wait 50 mins and it wasn't even busy. The orange juice was empty and there was no bread so along with other people had to ask for these to be refilled. This was only 9am so nowhere near the end of the breakfast service. A couple next to us had to leave without breakfast as they had waited so long and had somewhere else to be. The choice for the continental breakfast was awful....one yoghurt wont go far! Few bits of fruit which looked very unappetising.nIf we had booked one night in the basic room at £80/£90 then maybe you would expect something similar to a Blackpool B&B but when paying £165 you are just getting robbed. Unfortunately we will not stay here again.
Booked the Cronies Restaurant for last night. We arrived at 6.30pm. It wasn't that busy for a Friday night. Right away I was concerned as they are still using their Festive menu!! It's changed since I was last year and there was a piano player in the centre of the room. He was very good. My only negative is that he played 'louder' when a group of 8 ladies came into the restaurant. This meant it became rather noisy and we had to speak louder to hear ourselves.n3 of the 6 had starters. These were cleared away however we then waited over an hour for our main course. While waiting a waiter did approach us and ask if we'd had our starters! He then returned 5 minutes later with main courses but they weren't ours. They were fir the table next to us who still had their starter plates on the table. I observed the save waiter wandering around with other starters and again trying to serve to a wrong table. I'm giving Cronies Restaurant 3 stars because the food was nice once it finally arrived. But the service was very poor. It wasn't that busy so I'm unsure why the chef took so long to make our main courses.

And what about the loss of my sleep? I booked this hotel to get some sleep and have a relaxing weekend away this certainly has not been it
