The hotel is lovely inside and out. It's set in a slightly elevated position within easy walking distance to both the town centre and the castle. Excellent staff who do their best to ensure your stay is as it should be. The room was spotless and has the most comfortable bed ever. The bathroom has one of the deepest baths, which affords the guest a decent soak. More than adequate choices for breakfast. A thoroughly enjoyable experience which we hope to repeat in the not too distant future
The hotel is modern in some areas, but not all. What I liked about this hotel was the wonderful service you got from all the staff from check in to breakfast.nnI felt the rooms were a bit dated, but it had a proper iron and ironing board which I needed as my packing technique is appalling.nnThe bed felt quite hard when I led on it, but I had a really good night's sleep.nnBreakfast was very good, I had forgotten how nice it is to treat breakfast like a proper meal. No hot buffet, but table service with a great choice.
Main reason for the 3/5 is that the hotels own car parking charge was £15 for 24 hours. As a resident of the hotel for the evening I would have expected parking to be free.nnThe room was small, it was clean and the electric heater warmed the room up nicely. The shower room was modern but could have benefited from a heated towel rail.nnThe staff were friendly and helpful.
Outstanding location for sightseeing, hotel is clean and comfortable. Staff were ever so friendly and helpful. Wifi was great. Property is older and does not offer usb ports in the room. I chose 4 stars only due to the fact that the property does not accept cash. I chose to eat and entertain elsewhere due to this policy. I use cash almost exclusively and resent not being given that option. This would have impacted my choice had I known. This was the only place during my 2 week jaunt where I encountered this.
Worst ever corporate stop over and chatting to others in the bar they are of the same opinion.nnMy room was like a morgue. All black with worn out carpets and furniture. Not a single USB in the room.nnBreakfast tables not cleaned or set and the evening bar 'service' is embarrassing.nnNo ice for two daysnNo Havana rum. On the menunNo salted crispsnnBar tender was absent for 10 mins + and when he finally did arrange he had major attitude issues. His words.. 'I don't care' when asked about how to contact management as it is will be getting a 1 star review..nnChatted to others in the bar and they were given bed sheets to put on when they arrived! They also agreed one of the worst hotels they'd ever stayed in.
