Great little pub with a good range of local beers and a fantastic varied menu. Really friendly staff, reasonably priced food, prompt service and they appear to be happy to accept well behaved guests with 4 or 2 legs (and other combinations). The fish finger sandwich was really good, light batter and "fish finger" doesn't really do the fish pieces justice. Nice side salad, I would have just liked more chips, I'm greedy though and they were really tasty. All in all a pleasant experience, thank you!

Not good for children, not great for anyone. I went here for an early dinner with my parents and 2 year old daughter. The environment was nice enough, but service was simply glacial. We tried to take part in the early bird 3 for 18 quid offer, but ran out of time and had to skip desert in order to get my daughter back for bedtime. A family at another table sat, got ignored for 15 minutes then just got up and left. In retrospect, they were the lucky ones. Despite asking twice, my daughter's meal wasn't brought out ahead of out mains, meaning it was an hour from getting to the pub before she was given anything to eat (and nothing to entertain her, either) so she was pretty restless by the time her meal arrived. When it did arrive, it consisted of three oven cooked chicken nuggets that were so dry and flavourless we could have used them to fix up a dry stone wall. There were some chips that were served volcano hot (and not all cooked through) and to top it off, a rocket salad ("too spicy!" as my daughter said) covered in balsamic dressing. The adults didn't do much better. I opted for squid to start, which had not been cleaned before frying and then fried in so much batter they resembled vaguely squid flavoured donuts that oozed with black gelatinous fluid when bitten into. And to top it off, I found an inch long piece of plastic in one of mine. Main course of "home roasted ham eggs and chips" was the highlight of the bunch...if they have indeed roasted the ham themselves they're to be congratulated on doing so in such a manner that makes it look, feel and taste like some from a packet. Same semi-cooked chips and two eggs that were actually cooked pretty well. Even if this course was stonking, however, they'd still be struggling to justify the 11 quid price tag. Our mains were served halfway through our "should we just leave?" vote. So we asked for the bill when the food arrived. The waiter informed us that "it's usually customary to eat your food before getting the bill!". This may have been an attempt at a joke, but we weren't laughing. I'd not recommend this pub to anyone, but especially if you have children, please steer clear. These places have to learn that there's more to being "child friendly" than making a slightly smaller portion of slightly worse food. We might be back, but then pigs might fly.

1 of our favourite venues to visit. Great atmosphere - fantastic food - good selection of beers, Gin's and wine's. Dog friendly too, all add up to a great relaxed experience. Mike is always a pleasure to chat to brilliant guy. Keep up the good work guys 👏

Rustic food with a decent selection of ales. Really friendly staff and a very quirky downstairs. Really enjoyed our light lunch in there... It's very close to the lake, and decent value for money.

Had cream of onion soup. It was really good. The rest of our party had various types of sandwiches from the menu. All of them said they enjoyed them. Service was good too and so was the wine. Nice feel to the place slightly cozy with a tiny hint of contemporary hipster.
