Although I was seated promptly, I ended up waiting for my food for quite a while. Once I did get my appetizer, I was disappointed to find that the paneer tikka had almost no flavor. Thankfully, the lamb vindaloo had more of the spice and kick I was hoping for! Overall, an okay experience.Food: 4/5
Tommy gave us great service. Food was great, really good portions! Drinks service was however bad. Had bought out an extra bottle of beer with it open so were forced to keep it. And one server opened bottled water to pour into glasses that no one asked for… And food order took ages after our drinks came.
Food was great and servers were delightful. There was a man in charge who initially overrode the servers to take my order because there was a large party, which I thought was nice. After they left, he had a weird interaction with new customers over politics, but the wait staff remained totally professional. It was late at night, admittedly. He kept disappearing outside to film cars going by and be photographed on a bike wearing sunglasses. Then he came back in and abruptly told me they were closing and piled up all my dishes to take away. Thankfully I was done eating and could take my wine to go, because he was taking my food either way. At the same time the restaurant was seating multiple new parties and had many open tables. Truly a bizarre experience. Food was good, but will not repeat.
Great service, great vibes, and the food hit the spot! Barrister was our waiter and he was so nice!Food: 5/5
Stepped in off the street with no booking on a Saturday night with no issues as we got straight to a table. Service was friendly and quick, the place filled up quickly and had a good atmosphere of people chatting and having a good time and good food. The food was fantastic, my chicken dish was brillaint as was my wife's prawn dish. All for a very reasonable price. Would definitely recommend to anyone thinking of heading to brick Lane for a curry!
I tried here last night and was left very disappointed. I ordered an Aloo Gobi for my main meal with chappattis. Unfortunately when the food came I noticed that the curry was very watery and that the chappattis were not cooked through properly. When I tasted the curry it was completely bland and flavourless. I reported this to the manager or owner who then started arguing with me at my table. He told me that the moisture was oil and not water, and that the dish is always like that. I order Aloo Gobi 9/10 times from every Indian I got to and know how it should be. I explained to him I've never had it so bland tasting or watery in Yorkshire where I am from. He replied saying Yorkshire has different standards to London and I said - the must mean that Yorkshire has better standards then? He said "no, London is better"....but clearly not. He said "how much flavour do you want, how much can you handle?" I replied "of course flavour is different to spice and it is the lack of flavor that is the problem ". The owner clearly thinks it's just spice that makes the curry, and not the flavour. The did take the food again and "remake it"...even though it was the same dish but recooked and more spice added to it. When I wanted more flavour they just added more spice which when it came back was just overpowering. I would most certainly avoid this place. Dreadful food and appalling service.
Consistent good food and service here. The various curries have different flavour profiles unlike other places. The reason for not giving 5 stars is the spice level. We asked for hot level spice on a couple of dishes, and they brought them mild. The server only said, "sorry I told them," and didn't offer to fix it. A curry house that won't do hot should not be a thing.
Was looking for authentic Indian food and got exactly that and more. That recommended Gharka Lamb Curry just hit the spot with rice and the naan. Definitely going back there now that we are in East London. Vegetarian options: There is alot of vegetarian options. You won't be disappointed.
This is a must!!! I wasn't sure at first figured it would be overrated but I'm glad I was wrong. FOOD: Delicious the flavors are on point cooked perfectly!!!! Staff: super friendly and welcoming! Definitely going again!
I always thought this was a somewhat touristy place and had low expectations before I came but the food actually surprised me! It was so tasty and the price was very reasonable as well! The waiters were very kind and always checked up on us! It was a bit sad seeing how empty it was at lunchtime so would love to see more people coming to this place!
