It was first time and last at this place. The interior looks really promising. Nicely decorated and authentic. However, service not that good and food even worse. Gravy running like water. Very basic roast. We had started and main and finished with a dessert from the shop as it was no worth to even try that. We usually full after main, however, it wasn't filling at all. 2 other tables have been complaining while we had our dinner. Ps. 6 little prawn starter was £10. Just noticed that it should of been king prawns. Must be a joke.
First time to dine in this Vintage Inn pub and we were very impressed service and atmosphere was very welcoming; food is a solid 10/10 !! Definitely coming back again to The Duke of York soon!
Made an impromptu visit this evening with my daughter for a meal not locals, but on holiday. We were told there would be a slight wait for food due to staff shortage if we didn't mind waiting. Food was ordered and we in fact did not wait very long despite there being a few customers. The sharing camembert was cooked to perfection sorry no picture as too excited to eat, we both had the Chicken & smoked pancetta pie with veg a jug of gravy was cheerfully produced when asked for as an extra. Thank you to the staff Emma and Hayley you both made our evening a great experience. Fully recommend this excellent establishment and look forward to visiting when next in the area.
The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, the staff were great and nothing was too much trouble I think we had Dan and Chloe Took my husband for his birthday, he is a chef and a nightmare to eat out with but the food was delicious especially the garlic flatbread and he was very impressed with the whole experience. I couldn't eat all of mine and they offered a take away box before I could even ask! Thank you, we will be back.
Great pwt friendly pub, shame there only vegan hot sidh wasnt avail when we went for Saturday lunch. The wrap on offer instead was nice, not really enough for a main meal. Would be great if placed had at least 2 vegan main meals on offer so that when one sells out then we have another option. Friendly service.
Great night at the duke of York. Plenty of great food & drinks, well cooked and presented. We went as a mid week birthday treat we got a little extra off the chef, see pictures, I must mention one of the staff, Dan, he made the whole night fun and was really helpful and enthusiastic, and using the vintage inns app, helps with the costs, highly recommended.
Fantastic food, nice warm fire and even warmer service from Emily and Dan. We’ll be back with the dog soon too. Always nice when we can take the dog too.
I am delighted to say that I had a very good lunch there. I follow a fairly restricted diet but they had no issue with providing a dish off menu that catered for my needs. The service was prompt and the staff were pleasant and helpful. If I had to find a fault, all I could say is that the table was slightly sticky, like wooden tables get in pubs and restaurants when they are cleaned frequently with a detergent and not polished afterwards.
Staff were friendly. Parking was good. The menu you had was different to that on the website. This caused real problems for a member of our party who has dementia- we had spent some time helping him prepare. The sea bass was great. The beef roast- couldn’t get a knife through any of the potatoes. The steak was a little dry, although the second half was better. Onion rings were very crispy. We ordered 2 calamari- one portion was far smaller than the other.
Really great food, friendly staff and an absolutely lovely environment. Recommend anyone eating here for a family meal or with friends. Also, dog friendly which is a bonus! Served by Conner who did a top job with our gluten free / dairy free / honey allergy requirements.
