The Anchor

Story

We are a traditional quayside pub boasting old world charm, a roaring fire, dark wood and flagstone floors. A warm welcome awaits you.

We produce all our food freshly on the premises, sourcing as much of our ingredients as locally as possible. We are happy to cater for everything from large groups to individuals, with bespoke menus available on request.

We serve a selection of Greene King cask ales, have been awarded the Cask Marque for their quality and are members of The Greene King Head Brewers Club, a collection of superior Greene King cask ale pubs chosen by their Head Brewer John Bexon.

Quirky waterside pub set over a number of levels. The beer Abbot ale in my case was well kept but too cold. Real ale should not leave condensation on the outside of the glass. The food is exceptional. I had the butternut squash, celeriac, mushroom & chestnut pie with mashed potatoes & veg which was excellent. Very good sized portions and reasonably priced.
The anchor pub in Woodbridge by the river is a pleasant ace to go for drinks.good atmosphere, eating is a little pricy but the food is good,I had the braised beef pie and veg,£15,my girlfriend had the minute steak and she said it was lovely.£ 14.50,staff very attentive, and pleasant. Good choice of beers and the pimms drink is correctly done, unlike some pubs.
We went for food. It was good. The minute steak had some gristle in it but otherwise OK. My friend had the curry which she enjoyed. The service was good and the staff were friendly. We would go back.
Really nice food , good choice of drinks. We had starters, main and dessert and it was all finished in just over an hour. We didn't feel rushed and likewise you don't get left waiting between courses. Will defo be going back
The Anchor, Woodbridge is my most favourite pub in the world. Something about the top bar that is so cosy and quintessentially English that it makes you want to hole up there and get squiffy on the fantastically kept GK Abbot Ale. The Massaman curry yesterday was superb too. Their pub open mic jam sessions are great fun too. Highly recommended!
So cold! It was snowing outside but there was no heating whatever in the back room. We sat with our heavy coats on! The food was good, and good-value, but we were so glad to get back to the car.
Gets very busy mainly due to its location and popularity. Well worth a visit. More seats at the rear of pub as well. Food good and a lot of it. Friendly staff too.
Perfect place to watch the world go by. Plenty of outdoor seating, good food and decent range of drinks.
Good staff, good beer, large portions. I'm a very heavy eater. Had fish & chips and 1 pint and doubt I could've eaten anymore. I left full and satisfied. Prices are proportionate to serving sizes.
Visited here on a busy Saturday evening and enjoyed one of the tastiest burgers I've had in a long time. Service was swift and friendly even though the place was packed. They have seating outside at the front and a more secluded area at the side. It was great to sit outside on a warm summer evening but it also looked like it would be cosy inside if the weather wasn't quite so warm. Will definitely be back for another burger!
