We saw the show that goes wrong, good show, slap stick comedy. The theatre itself is a good size with friendly knowledgeable staff. The seats are comfortable enough for a 90 minute show. There is an accessible entrance staff assist if sitting in the stalls as there is no lift and accessable toilet. There's a bar on each floor with a decent range of drinks and snacks.
This is a medium sized West End theatre at the top of the Strand, it has a long history of hosting great shows. I saw 'The Play That Goes Wrong'. The actors in the show do a pre-show comedy warm up coming to the audience to ask them to find an invisible dog that is used on stage in the show. Then there is the audience participation at the beginning of the show. The person holding the mantelpiece on the wall, is a member of the audience not an actor plant. I know because I came with him. The seats are comfortable, spacious and most importantly have good leg room. The usual merchandise and bars are available pre and post show. The queue at the door was fast moving even the bag check queue. The staff are both inside and at the door were polite and helpful. I would definitely visit this theatre again if a show I wanted to see was playing there.
I thoroughly enjoyed "The Play That Goes Wrong." The actor who played the sound technician was exceptionally humorous, engaging with the audience even during the interval. I also loved the character of Cecil. I’m not sure of the actor's name, but the performer on 23rd June was incredibly talented, making the experience even more memorable.
Good venue. Comfortable seating with good views even to the back. Play that goes wrong is a good play, would recommend though the humour may not be suited to everyone.
The Play That Goes Wrong is amazing and one of the most fun experiences you can have. Duchess Theatre is a beautiful, small and cosy theatre. You feel close to the action no matter where you sit. For this play however, centre ir left hand side is preferable over the right side
A very unique theatre in SoHo London. We saw “The Play That Goes Wrong”. The only problem was if there is someone taller sitting in front of you are eff’d. I had to lean to the far right to actually enjoy the show.
Exhilarating experience. Loved it. Had experience of seeing the funniest comedy in West end, The Play That Goes Wrong Nearest station: Temple Tube station District line, Circle line How was it: Ten out of ten! Great staging, Hilarious, Entertaining, Clever and Crazy. Must watch if you're in London
This was an absolutely superb show. You should definitely watch it. There is something wrong with you if you don't find it entertaining and/ or laugh. Cast members were exceptional. Thanks for signing our program. We visited 1930 showing on 27th June. Pls donate to their cause...MND.
Fast food, fast fashion, fast theatre? This is definitely fast theatre. “The Play That Goes Wrong” wasn't for me and in my opinion wasn't worth the £20-30 ticket fee. Humour is subjective, yes, but beyond the clever set design it's a bunch of people cavorting, shouting, and screeching for two hours. Who would enjoy that? Maybe it would suit bringing children still developing their tastes and faculties of humour? This is for a child audience or adults with kiddish humour. As a comedy of errors this felt underdeveloped and pales in comparison to the likes of Atkinson's indirectly witty and charming Mr. Bean. The progressively unhinged aspects do echo Shakespeare's Twelfth Night, but there isn't enough substance or a moral to the story to justify the excessive use of outright silliness which is forcibly pile-driven into the audience in every other line for two hours. Why not make it a mostly serious story with occasional things going wrong? Instead things went wrong all the time with occasional story. If I'd paid £5 for it I'd feel better about seeing it for the cheap gags after some drinks, you'd really have to stupefy yourself with alcohol or drugs to get much out of this. Not one I'd recommend to anyone - unless I expressly knew that person had this type of humour. This was on Broadway and I can see it being far more suited to an American audience than a British audience.
Went to see The Play That Went Wrong. Small and cosy theatre. Tickets said we had a restricted view, but we had a great view and great seats. Very funny play and all actors/actresses very personable. If you're a fan of typical british/slapstick comedy you will love every second of this. If you have no sense of humour stay at home and watch the news. Loved this from before the curtain went up to when it went down
