Story

ROALD DAHL's deliciously dark tale of young Charlie Bucket and the mysterious confectioner Willy Wonka comes to life in a brand new West End musical directed by Academy Award® winner Sam Mendes.

When Charlie wins a golden ticket to the weird and wonderful Wonka Chocolate Factory, it's the chance of a lifetime to feast on the sweets he's always dreamed of. But beyond the gates astonishment awaits, as down the sugary corridors and amongst the incredible edible delights, the five lucky winners discover not everything is as sweet as it seems.

Featuring ingenious stagecraft, the wonder of the original story that has captivated the world for almost 50 years is brought to life with music by Marc Shaiman, and lyrics by Scott Wittman and Marc Shaiman (Grammy® winners for Hairspray; Smash), a book by award-winning playwright and adaptor David Greig (The Bacchae; Tintin In Tibet), set and costume designs by Mark Thompson (Mamma Mia!; One Man, Two Guvnors) and choreography by Peter Darling (Billy Elliot The Musical; Matilda The Musical).

A chocolate garden, an army of squirrels and the curiously peculiar Oompa-Loompas must be believed to be seen in this spectacular new musical that is choc-full of fantastical treats to dazzle your senses.

We had high expectations for this experience but was severely disappointed. Extremely underwhelming!! We were met at the first level by a lovely host, who showed us to our seat. The staff that served us throughout were fine and had no issues. As you enter the venue you expect big things it's decorated on the first floor with some wonka theme that looks awesome but then you are taken downstairs to a pretty standard restaurant room which has no connection to Wonka at all and you could have been absolutely anywhere. The food was severely lacking anything close to it's £70 price tag. Advertisements are misleading, things like the fizzy lifting drinks dry ice you pay an extra £11 for which is extortionate for a bit of strawberry juice which is gone in 2 mouthfuls. Sandwiches were fine. Definitely not enough to fill you up I would have expected at least unlimited refills for the price tag. The scones were tasty but just as tasty as anything iv had before. The desserts looked appealing photos sell it well online but did not match up to that. Weird flavour and texture combinations. On top of your £150 bill for 2 people they then pop on a 15% service charge another £23, as if the amount paid wasn't enough already. Wouldn't recommend this to anyone unfortunately.
What an amazing place Delicious food and amazing staff who is there for you and providing the nest service you can ask for. Food is fresh, colorful and tasty. An amazing experience from start to the end for all ages.
What a cool experience for adult and children alike. You walk in and immediately feel like you’re walking into the factory. The food was so perfectly tied to the theme, and I could’ve believe how good it was. The price is expensive, but it comes with unlimited teas, coffee, savories and sweetsFood: 5/5
We thoroughly enjoyed our time at this unique tea. Every element was dazzling and made the book come alive, from the fizzy drinks to the interesting flavored desserts and sandwiches. The service was top-notch. Willy Wonka would have approved! Kid-friendliness: The whole experience is designed for kids.
I won a competition for the Afternoon Tea here and it was a lovely experience. I felt very looked after by our waiter and the food was delicious. I particularly loved the spinach roly poly and the macarons. The teas were excellent - I tried the chocolate, caramel and lemon. I would recommend for a fun experience here and it looks great for children and families too.
The service was amazing! The staff really treat you welcomed and well. Some of the sandwiches were very yummy. Maybe one or two I wasn’t a fan of. The salmon sandwich was really interesting. The scones were delicious and not dry. The butters were so tasty. The desserts were good too. One thing I would recommend would probably be to have more dessert options. Other than that the service made up for everything. Thank you.
we booked to go for my nieces eighth birthday party. There were only nine of us. We had high expectations given some of the photos that we saw previously online. When we arrived, the staff were very welcoming and in the mezzanine level there was a Charlie and the chocolate factory theme. When we went downstairs to our table, we could've been anywhere. There was nothing to indicate what the theme of the venue was. When the food came, it was very slow. The sandwiches were nice. The scones were nice. But they did seem to be , a taste which indicated they were prepared the day before. The pastries seemed a little experimental and not the sort of ingredients you would mix together such as the mango and hazelnut chocolate cream cake. The service was very slow not just on the drink side but the food too. I was very disappointed with the way the tea arrived. I was expecting it on a tower of plates, instead every person had their own plate. This meant that the tables were very crammed and not much space for our cutlery. For what we got, it was certainly not worth the money that we were charged. Yes, we had some champagne, when the bill came it worked out to just under £100 per head. In hindsight, I wouldn't book this again. I think the theme was over rated, and so were some of the cream cakes.
I cannot rate this experience more highly. The food was delicious, the staff were absolutely incredible, you all went out your way to make sure my daughter had a lovely 13th birthday. Thank you so much for your kindness and for giving us a lovely afternoon.Food: 5/5
I had a wonderful experience for my birthday. Service was amazing - special mention to our main waiter, Yousuf, who was brilliant. Had enough sugar to last me to Christmas! Food was spectacular, and they met my gluten-free needs. Dietary restrictions: Can easily cater to gluten-free, vegan and vegetarian Kid-friendliness: Great to take kids of all ages.
Absolutely class! We were served by Pio who was amazing, faultless service & was extremely attentive. Both the savoury & sweet food was delicious, we would highly recommend this place to anyone.Food: 5/5
