I signed up to the beginner's burlesque course on a whim, and how glad I am that I did! I have zero previous experience with dance but with Belle's expert teaching, encouragement from the wonderful women in our troupe, and some glitz and glamour, I somehow stood up on stage and performed a whole routine. What's more, I LOVED it. Such a life-affirming, empowering, and genuinely joyous thing to do. You'll meet some amazing people, and show day is quite the rush. Go on, you won't regret it!
if you reading this review that means you are looking into jumping on the train of burlesque journey and I would just say DO IT!!! sign up to any class, any course at The Cheek of It and I'm 1000 % sure you will love it. I did both Spotlight and Showtime beginners and both graduation nights were one of the best of my life. This is space full of love, sisterhood, empowerment. It changed me and how I see myself. Teachers are extremely helpful, encouraging, knowledgeable and everyone is SO very welcomed and loved from the very first moment you walk into the class. The Cheek Of It is changing the world one shimmy at the time!
Well Worth It! I’m amazed at myself for learning so much in the time spent on the beginners course. It challenged me in ways I have never been before. Every week something you’ll learn about yourself and do. If you’re shy, or anxious I’d say this is perfect for you to push yourself into. Hands on teachers their to support and give constructive feedback on dance routines with your troupe, but most of all make it fun every time there is a lesson! No regrets, would do it again.
I cannot recommend this school of burlesque more. I graduated from the beginners course with the show yesterday and my goodness!! — What a FEELING!! I cannot wait to do more with them. The staff were fantastic, the sisterhood felt wonderful. I am so grateful and feel more confident than before for sure. There’s something about the show experience, stripping off and being screamed and beamed at with the most gorgeous support that fills me with joy!! Thank you alllll xxx
This is the experience of a lifetime I signed up for the beginners class 8 weeks just to do something fun and different and have a chance to dress up. The show was a Revelation!!! Totally loved it and it really bonded us as a group. Lots of the girls do performing so I’ll be following them, and I’m definitely planning to keep learning musical theatre, floor work to build the skills for the Spotlight class with the Cheek of It where you develop a solo. Complete with some singing, some floor work, some acting… hopefully it’ll be good!!! Burlesque seems to bring it all together which is fabulous for someone like me who likes to do a bit of everything. In short - this is just FABULOUS stuff, do sign up!!!
Zoe and Belle were so kind, positive and enthusiastic. Our group was lovely. Contributing to and learning the routine was good for the brain and the strip tease good for the soul. A fantastic experience. Many of the other acts were truly inspiring and show day was awesome. Thank you
After attending various dance classes over the years I’m thrilled to of found a home in The Cheek of It. The showtime beginners course was amazing, graduation day was one of the best days of my life and I can’t wait to take part in the advanced course! Highly recommend.
What. A. Time. This course was beyond worth it and so much more. Petit Pois was a fabulous, gracious and kind teacher and cheerleader who pushed our creativity and sense of fun each week. From this experience I’ve been able to meet a group of brilliant and inspiring ladies, in a loving and celebratory space each week, whom I was lucky enough to share a stage with at graduation! I will definitely be pursuing the solo Spotlight course later in the year as the Beginner’s Showtime course has not only inspired me but also boosted my confidence in my performance ability and creativity. I can’t wait to see what happens next on my burlesque/cabaret/performance journey and I thank Zoe Charles and Petit Pois for making the Cheek Of It a truly memorable start
If you're hesitating to join, girl, go for it! The whole experience was well thought out and unique. A huge thanks to Petit Pois, an incredible performer and teacher. "Cheek of It!" goes beyond being just a burlesque class. It is a community of supportive and uplifting women who are always ready to help each other. I have had the opportunity to meet some incredible people during these classes. And performing together on stage was the acme of this whole wonderful experience. It is simply going to change your life... No pressure.
The beginners course was awesome, was a really fun way to learn burlesque in a friendly environment. Having the performance as part of the graduation was a great experience. Would recommend if you have an interest and want to try something new!
