We had a beautiful lunch here!nWe shared three starters, only because we couldn't decide , scallops , steak tartare and the winner of the day the cured trout!nWe didn't stop there, we followed up with two perfect cooked rib eyes, a side of hispi cabbage and some delicious Malbecs.nnService was very good, we were seated promptly, didn't wait long for our drinks order and food came in a timely manner. With enough space in between courses.nThe venue was bustling with families and groups all enjoying their Sundays but this only added to the atmosphere.nRoll on warmer days so we can enjoy their outdoor areas!
Really great first time visit here. Impressed. Food lovely and presented well with good flavours and quality. Place inside was so gorgeous and Christmassy. Really lovely vibe and atmosphere. Service was 5 star. Maitre' d professional and skilled all waiting staff professional snd polished which i noticed as looked around. Really high quality service. Will return and try some other dishes. We really enjoyed it and thought good value for money..nice details..overall really good experience and reccomend for all group types.
I’m up this way working and I have been to eat here a couple of times, although they serve my favourite beer.. asahi, the food although the pork dish was nice, just too over cooked, the fillet on the pork dish I left… felt like it was cooked the day before and heated up.. my work colleague thought the same, the rest was actually quite nice.. the Sunday lunch I had the roast beef and “slow cooked blade” only got the option of how it comes … well done only… real shame.. but the blade was even worse.. chewy.. didn’t fall apart.. ate it because I was staving. The cali cheese was lukewarm and I had a mouldy “soft” roast potato.. they could have been crispier… yorkie was nice and the carrot and parsnip.. sauce abit watery and spare, heard many tables around me ask for more gravy. Went there at 12:30 so one of the first ones so no excuse for the over cooked beef… had a bottle of wine with it but yeah…. I can do better at home.
Haven’t been to the Devon doorway for ages and me and my mum had a voucher to use so we made a mid week visit and what a treat this was! Served by Eloise who was so helpful very attentive and recommended her favourite meals based on what we said we liked. The decor was really lovely and perfect atmosphere for a cosy autumn dinner. Will be back again soon.
Called on for a Sunday roast today. Not only was the food prepared by chefs Jon and Graeme absolutely delicious, there was plenty of it and presented beautifully on the plate. Our server Florrie looked after us very well, being polite, attentive but not intrusive and explained how to check the allergies on her iPad. For a young girl she was very professional and was equal if not better to some of the young people I have worked with when I worked in a five star environment in hospitality. The Devon Doorway are lucky to have found her. Well done Florrie...you shone!
