Beautiful pub - clean and a great environment, it was bustling from early in the evening and into the night which is a really good sign. The staff were wonderful, you weren’t waiting long to be served at the bar either, as they were really efficient.nnThe food was absolutely incredible at reasonable prices - we had the chorizo and focaccia starter and there was so much flavour, the bread was also so fresh and warm. Then we had classic steak burgers as the main, they were juicy and I can’t express how good they tasted - the chips, slaw and onion rings were also top notch. Great portions, great flavour and you just couldn’t beat it.nnWould definitely come back here!
Had a really lovely meal at The Jug and Bottle in Heswall. I went for the fish pie, which was rich, comforting and clearly made with care. Properly generous on the fish, well seasoned, and not drowned in sauce, which is always a risk with fish pie but happily avoided here.nnThe ambience deserves a mention too. Warm, relaxed and quietly confident rather than showy, with a nice balance between feeling special and still being somewhere you can properly unwind. It’s the sort of place where you’re happy to linger rather than rush off.
We recently visited the Jug and Bottle in Heswall for Sunday lunch. We made an online reservation as we expected it to be busy and were glad we did as it was indeed quite lively when we arrived, though there was a nice welcoming atmosphere. The gent behind the bar greeted us warmly and before long we were shown to our table by a friendly waitress.nnWe ordered our drinks which arrived promptly and soon placed our food order. We chose the Sunday roast beef with side options of cauliflower cheese and a stuffing wrapped in pancetta, along with a chicken burger and fries. After a reasonable wait our food arrived looking appetising and thankfully tasting just as good. One of the roast dinners had fewer vegetables due to personal preference but it was a little disappointing that no extra roast potatoes or carrots were added in place.nnAfter enjoying our main courses we decided to share the glazed lemon tart which looked and tasted excellent. It was a great way to finish the meal.nnIt is worth mentioning that parking can be a bit limited, even the paid parking nearby has only a few spaces available.nnOverall we really enjoyed our visit. The team were friendly and attentive, the food was very good and the atmosphere was relaxed and pleasant, with even the live music from the other side of the bar adding nicely to the experience.
Came back for the second time this month. Food was outstanding again, wife had the snapper, I had the chicken. Restaurant quality, not just pub grub. Great service, cosy spot, good beer selection. Our favourite locally.
We visited at short notice and decided to dine and stay over as our travel plans changed. We really enjoyed our stay and the Sunday roast. The quality of the food was excellent and served hot. There was great live entertainment on too. The staff were attentive and professional. We will definitely return again soon.
