We had some lunch here today and it was really very good. It was great that everything was good and hot too! I've never had so much fish in a fish pie before, it was lovely.
We had a lovely bite for lunch today. Friendly staff and a nice atmosphere. Delicious food and we can't wait to come back.
What a fantastic pub. Extremely welcoming and friendly. Very large with plenty of seating inside and also outside at the front and rear with the latter overlooking the cricket pitch. Good selection of drinks and food. Great value for money. Well worth a visit
Seems to have gone hill since here years ago. We seemed to be only people staying despite 4 bedrooms. Stairs to bedroom not clean. Bedroom still had used/dirty tissues in bedside drawer I went down with Covid a couple of days after staying here and empty pill packaging on top of the wardrobe. Whilst the view across the cricket field was pleasant it was not if you looked down to the yard below bedroom window ~ complete with rat traps! Dinner was nothing special with no specials on board and being the only people inside the pub. When we questioned what the 4 types of olive oil were that were served with the bread the waitress replies “She did not know”. No attempt to go away and find out. Ate in The Green Man 2nd night which we found better choice. Breakfast had no menus and only offered a fried breakfast which was average. No cereal, bread, croissants, jam, marmalade, fruit etc. It was almost as if the bare minimum was being offered. The pièce de resistance came when I queried why the room had not been serviced the second day. I was told they don’t service rooms anymore. The bin in the room had overflowed by this time and we had run out of milk and coffee etc…I asked was this mentioned on their website and was told it was. I have since thoroughly checked the website and can find no mention of this so far from happy about being lied to. The only time I have heard of this was during Covid. Not what it used to be and will not be back. UPDATE Having made a review on the 1st July and the message left by the pub on Trip Advisor as follows:- "The Crown, General Manager at The Crown Inn Restaurant, responded to this review. Responded 5 weeks ago. Good afternoon, Thank you for your review. First of all I would like to apologise for your experience with us. We do not expect these standards from our team. We are taking every step to ensure this will not happen in the future and take onboard your comments and introduce new things to our Pub. We would be grateful if you could call the pub to discuss your stay with us over the weekend and make amends for your experience". We did email the Gen Manager and did get a reply from the tables email saying they would contact us. They did not. I sent another email last week and they have not repsponded to that so can only assume that they no longer have any actual interest in our experience after all despite what was said. Not very good at all.
The pub is lovely and the food is very good. Unfortunately on our visit they lost our order and we waited over one hour to be served. It seemed a genuine accident however, so we'll give it another try in a few weeks.
Welcome at the bar reception. The cosy room. Busy bar and very good evening meal. Comfortable bed. Breakfast +. Value for money.Rooms: 5/5
Very nice. Good atmosphere and the beer well kept.
Excellent beer, very good for and superb atmosphere. Well worth a visit
Meh Nice pub, rubbish food. Overpriced and zero effort put in. Had a Portuguese Chicken Burger with fries, £15.00 The piece of chicken in the burger was embarrassingly small. Shame, as the venue itself is really pretty.
We stopped in for lunch. The pub is lovely and the menu was varied and interesting. Our food was delicious and very generous portions! The staff were really friendly and the social distancing was really well managed.
