I didn't stay just popped in for Sunday lunch and it was fantastic. The lunches looked huge so the host offered me a child's size lunch and it was still enormous for me. It was delicious. I had the chicken breast and all the Sunday trimmings cooked to perfection. The only downside was that the gravy was a little too salty for me. I don't cook with salt these days so I may be biased. Yes there are plastic cloths on the tables, but we didn't need a reservation and everything was very clean and well presented. I would definitely recommend the food and the service. It is also dog friendly which us very useful for us. The locals in the bar were also friendly and welcoming.
I was passing by and came by chance to have a sandwich, but ended up having very good lunch. Lovely place with nice people. Friendly staff. Thank you Katie! The Chef is very good, burger was amazing. The chef does his own souses, he can give you as hot as you like, but be careful.
Visited many times and have never been disappointed with Sunday lunch! Sometimes you may wait a while if the kitchen is busy - but everything is home cooked. We always bring our lovely and well behaved German shepherd with us and the staff have always made him welcome. Looking forward to our next visit.
What a find! Best roast lunch I've had so far in Britain. Walking in we were a bit worried by the plastic table cloths and the lack of customers but you must just ignore that and order anyway! The food was top notch, all of it! The pork, beef, the chicken all generous portions and some very good trimmings including some Mediterranean roasted veggies "on the house" that went great with my Pork and the rotisserie chicken especially. Service was good, prompt and attentive. Presentation was nowhere near as good as some of the pics I've seen on other reviews but I assume that this is due to the Sunday roast menu dishes. Maybe as a testimony to the quality of the food Nobody even had the time to snap a pic...we just dug in and polished off the plates!
So so lovely warm and friendly. Traditional English pub, very nice beers. Well stocked bar, and the biggest fish and chips ever seen. My wife is coeliac and her gluten free needs easily, knowledgeably, carefully and happily accommodated. We hate being a nuisance but it was no problem at all. My burger was tasty and also massive. No danger of going home hungry or unsatisfied.
We went here after walking in Nymans for some lunch and it was lovely! Very welcoming, even with our dog who got treats! It was a little quiet and needs a bit of money spent inside to tart it up but that didn't matter too much as the food was lovely, good selection of real ale love the lots of chips! and we would go back again!Service: 5/5
Lovely, cosy little pub with a very welcoming atmosphere. The staff are very friendly and pleasant. Dogs are welcome which makes for an even more pleasant addition. The prices are average for a Sussex pub and the drinks selections are great. The food is INCREDIBLE! The portions are massive and the quality is amazing. I love coming here! Would certainly recommend it for a nice relaxing drink or a meal out!
Wonderful relaxed atmosphere with friendly staff and resident Old English Sheepdog, Juno. The food was very nicely prepared and there was plenty of it. I was longing for a good cup of tea and I got it. A drip free teapot with decent tea made properly with boiling water. We were made very welcome and I recommend this lovely place to tired and hungry travellers. We left refreshed and relaxed and think you will too.
Great local pub, though it's a Harvey's so not the best ale selection. The menu is standard "pub-grub" but the dishes are deliciously decadent and generous. The Royal Oak Burger is probably the best burger I've ever had, the chips are unbelievably good. The Chef is a lovely Lady who is as mad as a box of frogs.
Very friendly staff. We went for Sunday dinner and it was delicious. Beef was tasty and tender tasty potatoes and veg . My friend had the pirk and she said it was the best pirk she had tasted, melt in the mouth. My husband had deep fried ice cream for pudding that he said was really nice and i had chocolate sponge and custard that was lovely and moist. Decent size portions. Will definitely be going back.
