Average food. Steak was fairly fatty. New landlady has a funny attitude of dealing with someone who hasn't got id with them. Asked for id, said didn't have it so continued to pour the drinks to then take us to our table and say I can't serve you. Fair enough asking a 28 year old for id is just doing her job but just say if you haven't got id I can't serve you. It's not rocket science. If it wasn't late and we weren't hungry we would of walked out. Then waited 45 mins for two soups as starters.

This is a nice enough, adequate pub to stay in if you're walking locally. Rooms are clean and well decorated, beds are comfy, and the TVs in the rooms have Netflix, which is a great surprise. The corridor leading up to the rooms could do with a good going over though, and it smelled like cabbage! Staff are friendly if a little unprofessional. Me & my wife were obviously there on a romantic weekend away, and came down dressed for dinner. The waitress sat us, out of the entire (mostly empty) restaurant area, right next to a family with three noisy young children - nice. A bit of awareness please. A bit of observation. Best laugh though was the music. Imagine our romantic meal - staring lovingly into each other's eyes, when out of the speakers comes blasting..... the theme from Rocky! A few songs later was Iron Maiden's Number of The Beast, later on it was Guns and Roses, and a lovely raucous mix of other 80's metal. Good grief. To be fair though the food was good and a fair price. My steak was plenty big enough & cooked just right. The scallop starter was excellent as was the breaded brie. Go here for the value for money and don't expect frills and you'll be fine - just don't go for romance!

A decent pub for dinner, with very nice staff. I had the burger here, which was quite good, nothing special. My boyfriend had the fried brie, which was incredible. I'm giving it four stars because the staff are very lovely here, and the ambiance was very warm. The lady at the bar introduced me to Peach Schnapps and lemonade, and for that I am forever grateful.
