A historical, old pub on the wapping riverside. The pub itself has a traditional wooden interior. They have fabulous views from the back dining areas both downstairs and upstairs and have an outside 'pub garden' too. Approx 10 tables inside downstairs and probably 20 upstairs. Service is friendly, prompt and helpful. They accept both cash and card payments. Price is very reasonable for the area which might be the reason that it was very busy on the Sunday lunchtime we ended up there. Food is as you expect from the price, it's a value lunch in a prime location. Not a quality food kind of choice, but I don't think it needs to be. Seemingly the locals and tourists love it, as an addition to the friendly service and large selection of drinks but the food is certainly not the main attraction, the prices and the views are. highly recommended for the latter two and a must if you are on a pub crawl on the riverside. They also host Conedy night every first Tuesday of the month.
A pub everybody should visit!nnFor some time I have wanted to visit this pub as it appears in most peoples recommendations as one of the best pubs around.nnThe history itself is something to visit for alone as you’ll be walking on a 500 year old stone floor. With a lovely menu, good selection of drinks and a great view of the river there’s even more reason to go.nnThis is a must visit establishment for everyone who loves a great pub! I look forward to visiting again and recommend it to everyone.
I had an absolutely wonderful time at this bar while in England! We made reservations for dinner our last night there and loved the relaxed atmosphere, food was delicious, and the history of the place was really neat to learn about. What really solidified my 5 star review was our server Justin. He was friendly, attentive, and spent time talking with all of the tables which is the first server I've seen do that since visiting here. He takes alot of pride in telling the history of the pub and if it wasn't our last night in London, we would have definitely came back again for the service!
This historic riverside pub is a must visit, with a history of over 500 years. The oldest remaining part of the pub is the stone floors which are over 400 years old. Beautiful river rivers with plenty of places to sit and relax, both inside and outside. The bar counter is made of pewter and is quite unique. Do some online research about the pub as it is fascinating. I enjoyed my steak and ale pie with triple-cooked chips. A great location to enjoy a few drinks or meal.
Fascinating pub in a great location. Fabulous views. Can sit outside but it is very popular. However, great views from upstairs and lots of nooks and rooms to sit in upstairs.nThe service was friendly. A range of food on the menu. The food was good. Only criticisms were the roast potatoes were not cooked as well as I liked and the carrots undercooked. But the meat, cabbage, and gravy were delicious. Other food ordered was wolfed down.nThe pub has a fascinating history. I would recommend reading about it before you go. Great rooms and original features, and it is haunted. What more could you ask for.
