Nestled within an area of outstanding beauty and only 23 miles south of Edinburgh, the Borders town of Peebles sits straddling the majestic River Tweed. The world-famous salmon fishing river – Peebles’ motto is ‘Against the stream they multiply’ – is one of the many treasures on offer to visitors. Popped in for breakfast this morning.nLovely atmosphere, staff were very welcoming and friendly. Breakfast was absolutely delicious. Very well cooked and arrived at our table very hot. Very obliging at adapting some of the items in the full Scottish breakfast. We will definitely be coming back!
Excellent venue for my group of 24 golfers.nStaff could not have been more helpful.nGreat range of drinks suited everyone, even the fussy real ale brigade.nBooked the excellent function room in advance in case it was busy on Saturday night but it wasn’t needed as it seemed the locals were coming out later for Scotland’s WC game at 2am.
Jura is genuinely one of the best waiters I’ve ever had the pleasure of being served by. From the moment we sat down, he made the entire experience feel welcoming, relaxed, and professional all at once. It’s rare to come across someone who is not only excellent at their job but also clearly passionate about making sure every customer has a great time, and Jura absolutely delivers on that.nnWhat stood out immediately was his attitude. He greeted everyone with a warm smile, incredible politeness, and a level of energy that instantly made the atmosphere better. He wasn’t just doing the basics of taking orders and bringing food — he was creating an experience. He made us feel genuinely valued as customers rather than just another table to serve. That kind of personal touch makes a massive difference and is something you don’t see often anymore.nnJura’s attention to detail was honestly exceptional. He remembered everyone’s orders perfectly, checked in at exactly the right times without ever being intrusive, and made sure drinks were topped up and everything arrived smoothly. Even when the place was busy, he stayed calm, organised, and incredibly efficient. You could tell he was handling multiple tables at once, but he still made every single person feel looked after individually.nnAnother thing that really impressed me was how knowledgeable he was. It felt like he genuinely cared that we enjoyed our meals and wanted us to have the best possible experience.nnOn top of all that, Jura has a natural charisma that makes him unforgettable. He’s friendly without being over the top, funny without forcing it, and professional while still feeling approachable. He has that rare ability to read the table perfectly and adapt his service style to make everyone comfortable. Some waiters simply serve food — Jura creates an atmosphere that keeps people wanting to come back.nnIt’s obvious that he works incredibly hard and takes pride in what he does. Staff like Jura are the reason customers return to restaurants again and again. He represents outstanding customer service in every sense of the word and deserves real recognition for the effort he puts in every day.nnI can honestly say that Jura turned a normal meal into an amazing experience. Exceptional service like this deserves to be recognised, and I would highly recommend anyone to ask for Jura if they get the chance. Absolute top-class waiter — professional, attentive, kind, and genuinely brilliant at what he does.
I come in here daily, staff are amazing, food spectacular. Need to just say a wee mention to Jura Houston for being extremely friendly and makes our visits very pleasant. Top bloke. Xxxxxxxxxx
Stayed B&B midweek, we stayed in room 5, a lovely room with bath & walk in shower, lots of space & an enormous comfortable bed. We decided to also eat in on arrival, I had the steak which was very good & my partner had the super food salad with the addition of chicken. The chicken had been cooked/microwaved to a point that made it inedible. When we pointed this out after being asked how our meal was we were met with indifference by the person serving us. The hotel is very good & staff friendly & professional, just a shame one person was just not bothered with the comment on the quality of the food.
