Three years after leaving a bad review about this practice, nothing has changed. It is nearly impossible to get through to reception. I called at 8am for a blood test for my daughter and waited over an hour to be told there are no appointments and to try again tomorrow at 8am....why?! To receive the same message again? I called at 8am and the phone line kept cutting me off. 20 minutes later I get through to be told I am caller 48 on the line. 1 hour and 10 minutes later, the lady on reception was polite but in all honesty there is no help here. I was given the option to try booking online at 8am...but the same scenario lies there...first come, first served at 8am. And I don't understand why your reception is still closed. All other healthcare are now open. Why are you any different? I don't think I stand a chance to get a word with a Dr or getting the blood test appointment for my 3 year old daughter. Croft medical, please sort out your practice. Your clinicians are great but this is unfortunately vastly outweighed by the substandard phone call service. I was told you don't even have a receptionist. My call today was for a non urgent booking, I was told I cant even book a non urgent appointment a few days or a week later. Your practice is capable of being a 5 star practice, but you will never achieve this with this type of phone call experience. Read your reviews, everyone is saying the same thing. Your sincerely, A frustrated and disappointed father.
Good things first - the doctors are very good, every one of them. Very helpful and attentive. But only once you get to them, which itself is a gargantuan task. Climbing Mt. Everest would be easier exaggerated, but you get my point! Now the bad things - the appointment booking system is an utter disgrace. They operate an online booking system which almost never shows any available appointments. They advise you to book appointments at 8 am but you can keep trying for hours without any success. I have tried calling them this week every single day Mon-Fri at 8 am sharp but kept being thrown off the line repeatedly after the automated messages ended. When you do get through past the messages, you are told "you are caller number 35~40 in the queue"! That's 45~60 mins gone. Working people of all can't afford to do that! Doesn't the surgery realize that this is not practical at all? In fact, this is a torture! At the reception, staff are not welcoming at all, the general attitude is "please don't bother us". Absolutely no desire to improve their appalling service level or to even understand what they are there for. If it wasn't for the quality of the doctors, I doubt anyone would bother going here. I don't easily write negative reviews for anything but after several years of disappointment, this had to be written.
Expect to wait over an hour on the phone to get through to reception. You will then be told there are no appointments and to call back the next day at 8am. I have been calling for over a week and it is the same everyday. There are no questions asked as to why you need an appointment. I truly believe the healthcare for my 3 year old has been neglected by this practice. I will be making an official complaint as prompted to do by reception. Access to reception and therefore a doctor needs urgently improving as this current system is failing the public and putting lives at risk.
Rang my surgery and got the usual covid message, then 'please hold the line as we transfer you to the operator'. After several minutes of silence, I was cut-off. I rang again and again and the same thing happened. Clearly they don't want patients to call and this is an easy way of avoiding them - blame it on technology! Totally useless surgery. I then looked at all the other reviews and almost everybody agrees that while the doctors are great, it's simply impossible to see them because the front end reception/online booking/telephone service is so totally inept. I'm sorry to say that this surgery is mismanaged and should be closed. It's a pity because the doctors are great been going there 20 years, it's just that it is almost impossible to see them.
Yes it takes a while for calls to be answered, but once I get through I have always found staff to be helpful and responsive. I think given the current pressures , both clinical and non clinical staff are doing a great job. I can’t fault the doctors; they have always been caring and taken time to listen.
Doctors are incredible - IF you can get through. Spent the first 30 minutes being cut off by their ridiculous phone line. Currently sat on hold for 1 hr 18 minutes and have moved 11 places in the Queue down to 23. What a joke. This place needs adequate staff in the morning to take calls.
This medical practice, sorry did I say medical there? All of my experiences here are bad ones. They make you feel like YOU are the problem, when, actually, we/I are PAYING for you to exist Croft Medical Centre. I think if you can get through the total idiotic bureaucracy of the reception/8:00 telephone calls, locked doors, rude receptionists, the doctors and nurses are good. But there are so many problems getting ACCESS to any health care here, that seems to pale into insignificance, which is a shame. They REALLY need to sort out how the system of appointments works. For example I’ve been to the centre 3 times this week. First time front door locked, buzzed in, no one on reception, eventually told not very politely that I had to ring at 08:00 the next morning for an appointment. This I did, which kept dropping out at their end setting me back to caller 50! Very, very frustrating. When I did get through I was given an appointment at the Emergency Care Centre in Oadby, not my own surgery. 2nd time I called, again door locked that’s just great isn’t it, makes you feel if it really is YOUR surgery, right? they buzz me in and tell me they are closed for the afternoon “Training” fingers crossed there then. 3rd time I called. Yes, you’ve guessed it, door locked. Buzzed in, needed to drop something in, which I did, but needed something else, was told, again not very politely, that they were “Closed For Lunch”!!!! No doubt you’ve seen the comment at government level that calling a Doctor shouldn’t be like calling “Uber”. I think that is an insult to Uber!! Their system works, they turn up on time, and give you the service expected. It’s not really working here is it people? There has, surely, got to be a better system than this. I was quite happy to book ahead, a week, two weeks, but those appointments never seem to be available. I DO understand that the NHS is under extreme pressure, but there seems to be major inefficiencies/attitude problems here.
I want to give 0 star but Giving one star. Asked for an emergency Asthma pump prescription at 9am and till 1:30 they were waiting for doctor to sign. I will be flying with long journey and daughter lost pump and didn't tell me. Now I have 2 hour window and still no sign of doctor signing that prescription. If I didn't receive this I will be doing 11 hour flight journey with hell lot of tension and trauma.
As number 47 in the queue, I have just spent over an hour waiting to speak to a receptionist only to be inexplicably cut off. I tried to phone again but I am number 30 in the queue. Simply not good enough.
I rang the Croft today and after 26 minutes got cut off!!!! I rang again and was number 9 in queue, eventually after about 30 minutes I was No. 1 and I waited for 45 MINUTES at No. 1 !!!!!! No one answered and I eventually hung up. It was appalling to wait this length of time at No. 1
