I attended Spire Leicester Hospital 2 weeks ago for surgery for an Umbilical Hernia. Like a fool I had left this problem for years without getting it attended to - and it was now protruding the size of a tennis ball 9 year waiting list on the NHS if your lucky - hence the visit to Spire To describe myself as a nervous patient is a major understatement - I was terrified! All my concerns were unnecessary. From arriving to leaving - the treatment was second to none. The receptionists, nurses, anaesthetist and the whole team that looked after me were nothing less than fantastic. Can’t thank them enough. 2 weeks later I’m feeling great up and about, driving, back to work etc. I thought I’d be out of action for 6 weeks or more… Can’t thank them enough and highly recommend Spire Leicester Oh - I almost forgot. One last special thank you. Professor Lloyd that did the surgery. I knew from the start I was in the very best possible hands. Somehow carried out a big procedure with absolute minimum invasion. GENIUS! Many thanks to everyone at Spire!
The car park at this hospital is an absolute disgrace. To say many consultant appointments are now around £200 for 15 minutes you do not expect to have to circle around for half an hour looking for a space and leaving your vehicle at high risk of damage due to the overly cramped conditions. A lot of the spaces seem to be taken by staff but it makes what is a stressful experience anyway so much worse when you can’t just park. I now go to Spire Nottingham instead it is far better organised and more friendly reception staff too.
A year ago we decided to have our daughter assessed for ADHD. We were a little ambivalent about the decision at the time but thanks to the care of Dr Mooncey we are now extremely glad that we took the plunge. She was really empathetic and supportive and made every effort to really get to know and understand our daughter and to help her to recognise her strengths and to support and thus minimise her weaknesses. With online meetings available the whole process was straightforward and unstressful and has helped our daughter onto a really positive path.
Good hospital but does not take American Express. When I questioned this with the management, it was due to higher fees. I explained that my local hairdresser takes Amex and that I usually visit Nuffield because they also take Amex. But they do not see the longer term picture in that I would visit them more often if they accepted Amex. The penny pinching can also be seen in the reception area as every time I visit, the queue is often going outside with the reception desk being manned by two receptionists. As a result, they are losing out due to their penny pinching. Their loss, not mine, I will continue to visit Nuffield more often.
I saw Consultant Ophthalmologist at Leicester Spire Hospital who gave me a treatment which differed to what they wrote to my Doctors and my Health Provider. When I complained, their response was this is due to my recollection. Not only did they disregard my concerns they belittled me. I would never recommend the Consultant I saw. Having to place trust in someone with regards to one's health, requires courage and I have let down.
5 star service from all of the team at Spire Leicester. I could not have asked for better care during my knee operation. Thank you
I wouldn't know where to begin regarding my journey and a knee replacement, a very anxious and nervous patient I had put this op off for 5 years. I needn't have worried, wow what a team, from the reception staff, the porters, and catering team to the nurses doctors and consultants. I felt like I was in a 5 star hotel, the care and professionalism was unbelievable. I would not hesitate to return or reccomend
Like others I did have issues with reception staff, the lady I met was very waspish and curt when I asked how I checked in and what the process of payment was as I am a new user of Spires services. Felt like she was annoyed i'd bothered her and all I was doing was trying to register i'd arrived for my appointment! Other than that PERFECT my consultant was so kind and patient, and thorough with her assessment. She gave me more compassion in half an hr than i've experienced in over 10 years of trying to get myself heard and my experiences validated. Got me a plan sorted to go forward with to fight for a diagnosis and I left feeling confident i'd made progress.
Unbelievable level of service- every single member of staff went out of their way for me, made me so welcome and comfortable, and I was cared for impeccably. Would recommend to everyone.
Claim to liase with patients throughout the whole experience, we've all seen the TV advert.....this couldn't be further from the truth. My first meeting with my anaesthetist was 1hr before procedure. Had previously requested a meeting due to being a nervous patient. This was ignored. Outcome was cancellation of the procedure....30 mins before theatre booked. Wasting everyone's time and causing untold anxiety to an already nervous patient. Welfare of their patients is not Spires priority, making money seems to be where they are at. Procedure was sorted at a prestigious London hospital with complete consultation throughout and at considerably less cost.
