What a fantastic pub and restaurant. Ive driven past so many times and so glad we chose to stop. The garden area on a sunny warm afternoon is fantastic. The food is great and they have a good selection of beers and wines. It was a bit warm for some of the bigger hit dishes so I had the Chicken Ceasar salad and my wife the Orzo Pasta, both were very flavourful. The garden has a small house for children to play, full sun or shady tables on the terrace or in the garden and a small wildflower area leading out to the meadow behind. We will definitely be returning. Vegetarian options: Falafel burger Parking: Can always get a space
I remember this place being much better before covid. The staff were inexperienced and there was a lot of waiting for plates to be cleared etc. The food, which used to be excellent, was only average and so the high prices I don't believe are currently justified. In addition, the sticky toffee pudding was served lukewarm instead of hot.
Was driving past this pub today and decided to call in for lunch. We asked to be seated outside. Small outside area . Located nearby was their rubbish area which was appalling! Asked for a couple of drinks. The young waitress brought them over and dropped the bottle on the ground which rolled my chair almost hitting my leg. She apologised but seriously glass bottles and dropping them is clearly a health and safety issue. Training needs to be reviewed on waitressing skills. The oil vinegar with bread was toasted not very pleasant slightly too well done . The lemon sole was swimming in so much butter and the halloumi cheese burger was so greasy couldn't eat it .I paid the bill and noted my complaints in which the manager appeared and asked what the issue was I expressed my concerns to him. He did listen and said he was aware of the rubbish issue and apparently speaking to the local council. So if you are aware that sitting in the garden smelling of a local rubbish tip why would you offer seating to your customers!!!! I will speak to environmental health about this and maybe that will help this business. The manager does read these reviews so hope he addresses these issues. He offered a refund which was okay but a very disappointing lunch out. Very poor won't be returning and clearly young staff need customer service training refresh. No one wants to eat out next to foul smelling rubbish area and greasy food !
Lovely clean pub. Very overpriced in my opinion . 2 lunches 1 bottle of wine ..100.00. Sorry will not be returning.
Had a meal last night with family. I'd been told good things about this pub, though I feel they were holding back, maybe to keep it to themselves! This pub was probably one of the best pubs I've eaten at for a long time. Food was fresh, well prepared, served by great staff in a great setting. I highly recommend The Crabtree for any occasion. A+
Nice pub and the waiting staff were pleasant although they did drop and smash crockery a few times. Food was hit and miss and due to this I thought some of the prices were to much. Also was sat by a back fire door that every time was opened sent a chill through the room but that was just the luck of the draw as they were busy I guess. Will come back but maybe just for a roast hopefully a hit great garden for kids BTW. We were 7 with 3 kids. Kid-friendliness: Good. Kids menu was a little limited. Parking: Good parking
It was Curry Club night. Very tasty meal. All reasonably priced. Good atmosphere Food: 5/5
It's such a shame that after such a wonderful meal and great service, there were £16 worth of drinks added to our which were certainly not ours as we did not order any beer bill even after giving the staff a generous tip. It was partly my fault for not checking the bill properly before I paid up and left. Such a shame after a pleasant evening and it makes me reluctant to return.
This place is a little slice of heaven! If I could give it more than five stars I would. Beautiful pub with a magical garden, backing on to wildflower-strewn fields. We had dinner, and the food was exceptionally creative. We particularly loved the desserts. Service was very warm and we felt hugely welcome. Will have to find an excuse to go back!
I booked a table for 9 of us 8 adults and a toddler for our family Christmas meal out together. We had pre ordered the food as it was a big group, there were some allergy requests that I had noted there too. On our arrival we all received a very warm welcome. We had a few drinks at the bar before being shown to our table. We were allocated a waitress that looked after us throughout the whole meal. Our starters were bought over in good time and they tasted delicious! The mains were a mix of beef and Turkey roasts. I had the beef, which was tender, cooked to perfection and tasted fab! Everyone else that had the beef also said the same. Two people had Roast Turkey and commented how succulent it tasted. All the desserts also went down very well too and we even got some complimentary bread and butter pudding which was It was also apparent that our waitress was very aware of the allergy requirements which put our minds to ease. The CrabTree is a lovely pub, with open fireplaces and nice and cosy atmosphere for a winters day. We all felt really well looked after and we’ll definitely be going back again!
