Great little (and it really is tiny) real ale pub. Nice selection of varying and well kept beers. Pork pies if you're quick enough (you figure out if they're nice from that). Good selection of spirits too, wines are limited, but let's it, that's not why you go to a real ale pub. Did I mention that it's small though? It can get full very easily. By far the best pub in the middle of Cheadle Hulme if you want real ale though.

I knew it existed as I kept seeing it from my train. Locals spoke highly do I finally tried it. Courteous, friendly staff. Well cared for real ales that regularly change giving a surprise on your next visit. Snacks available include pork pies with choice of chutneys which go very nicely with a pint. Dog friendly, the interior features nice decorative items from the building past use as a gentlemans outfitters. 100yds from Cheadle Hulme rail station. I will be returning.

Stockport’s first micro-pub. For about 70 years the premises were occupied by Arthur Chiverton, a drapery and millinery business. His name can still be seen in mosaic at the entrance and it is this business that provides the inspiration for the name and design of the pub. Good use has been made of the space with a bar against part of the back wall and an eclectic mix of tables, chairs and fixed seating at once creating a homely, lived-in feel. Get in early though as there is room only for about 50 people, including standees. Six cask beers always on. Highly recommended.
