First time in the Oxfordshire, we have been looking for a place for our anniversary. Some local colleagues advised us to stay in the Chequers at Burcot. So we booked a room for 2 nights. It was our first time in The Chequers and YOU have to go if you're in this area! It’s the cutest little spot with amazing food. They have full menu of starters, sharing plates, main courses, all products and meat are from the local area. The "Chateaubriand for 2" is to die for. It was outstanding!! One of the best meats we ever had. All the sides are very good and the Chef is a real wizard with a magic of taste! The service we received was so amazing and we will definitely be back again. They made us feel welcomed and gave us an amazing experience. Thank you for this wonderful experience.
Lovely restaurant and helpful staff. The lamb rump was so tender, I did not need to use the steak knife they gave me. Also very good with allergies which was appreciated. Stayed overnight too, rooms are well furnished, spacious and comfy. Parking very easy too and electric charging points.
Where do I start, I have eaten in the pub a few times and have always found the food and service outstanding. This time I was at a party in the pub and was lucky enough to stay in one of their beautiful rooms. It did not disappoint, they have genuinely thought of everything you need in a hotel room. The bath products were high quality, kettle, fridge, coffee machine, iron, good hairdryer. Under floor heating which I didn’t need and a wonderful comfy bed with lovely bedding. My room rate included breakfast which was also first rate, a wide selection on the a la carte menu all cooked to order. I had the eggs Benedict which were divine. On top of all that we had the most fabulous food at the party, 3 courses of deliciousness. Delivered quickly and efficiently, everyone commented on how excellent the meal and service was. Thank you so much for such I wonderful visit, see you at the party next year!
Absolutely lovely food, generous portions and very attentive staff. We would meet here more often as it's central for a lot of our friends but the electric vehicle charging is very expensive £7.50 flat rate or £15 overnight so we go to Abingdon where charging is free. But for dining out with just the family it's perfect.
Lovely place to visit. The food was really nice, and clearly cooked by a Chef who is passionate about great food. The lady in charge was such a beautiful person, as were her staff. I came with my daughter and granddaughter for Sunday lunch, a nice treat as I was visiting the area from the North. I would highly recommend a visit to this lovely place
Lovely gastro pub. We stayed for one night in room 1. Excellent accommodation, very clean with good facilities - coffee pod machine, we even had a toaster :-. Staff were very attentive. Complimentary glass of fizz when we arrived. Lovely roaring fire to sit by whilst we waited for our table. Food is lovely and of good quality, but not cheap, especially as sides are at an additional cost. Not an issue - just be aware / check online before you go. Breakfast was good too. We would definitely recommend a visit.
Delicious Sunday lunch, the staff were attentive and the food was excellent. Portion sizes were larger than I was expecting! £30 for two courses seemed reasonable for the quality. Would recommend.
Wow - what a great find. First very friendly and helpful staff. Rooms are well appointed and large. Good work space. Food at the resturant is excellent as is the beer. I had French onion soup and avocado salad. My wife cottage pie. Booked direct via the website so breakfast included. Excellent value for money. We highly recommend
Amazing pub with great gluten free & vegan options! I’m coeliac and vegan so it’s not always easy to find a place to eat. This place was great, staff was so helpful and clued up about allergies. This was the best food I’ve had in a while, full of spices and flavour. I’ve had nut roast and brownie. Would definitely recommend, all food looked delicious!
Had a big family get together yesterday lunch time, around 20 of us. Never been to Chequers before but I was really impressed. The service was brilliant - we had our own dining area away from the rest of the restaurant, the waiter and waitress were very patient there were 7 small kiddies out of the 20, and the food was delicious, hot, and all delivered together. I ordered the duck salad for starter and the salmon main. Finished it all which is unlike me. Double yum. Thanks guys - would definitely recommend.
