The Central Bar
"Pull up a seat and step back in time. Our Champagne bar overlooks Central Station and evokes the golden age of travel, with a sash of style and lashings of charm. For those feeling peckish, food is bold, flavoursome, and focuses on small plates and sharing boards. Afternoon tea has a special place on the menu and is – of course – best taken with a glass of Champagne. Please, note that we're open from 10am for tea, coffee and soft drinks. Alcohol is served from 11am till late."

The perfect treat having completed the entire Glasgow Mural Trail, before getting my train home. Champagne Central is a stunning bar and restaurant located within Glasgow Central Station. My dishevelled appearance, backpack, and hiking boots ensemble did not preclude me from my celebration treat. From the moment my weary body dragged itself through the doors the staff could not have been more helpful. The first young gentleman pointed me towards a copy of the menu and gave clear instructions to the Champagne Bar, including the lift in case my legs faltered at the thought of the stairs. Having arrived at the bar and restaurant I was seated without issue, I did not pre book. I would consider this a must during busy periods. The staff were all polite, courteous, and helpful. The menu was exciting and traditionally Scottish, so venison meatballs it would be! I was not at all disappointed. I will definitely be saving up to enjoy the full experience and planning another visit, I want to sample some of the amazing sounding cocktails. The surroundings were exceptionally relaxing and of another period in time that conveyed the opulence from the heyday of train travel. The facilities were of the highest quality, clean,  and inclusive.
The food was nice. It's a beautiful building with many lovely rooms, I've been in on other occasions. Prettier rooms in this place than where the afternoon tea took place. This afternoon cream tea was average, the selection of tea was small, nothing particular to rave about, or complain about with the food. Service was slow but friendly.
A very disappointing experience at Champagne Central in Glasgow. Despite it supposedly being table service, we waited for 15 minutes without any attention before I had to go to the bar to place an order. The bartender seemed visibly annoyed both when I ordered and later when I followed up on our espressos, which we had also been waiting 15 minutes for. Instead of focusing on customers, he was more interested in showing off bar flair tricks and impressing his female colleague. When the coffees finally arrived, one was stone cold, and the other was served without a saucer. To top it off, I was charged £7 for the privilege. They also attempted to overcharge us for prosecco that my friend had already paid for. This all happened on a Monday afternoon when the bar and restaurant were not particularly busy. The decor is looking tired, and the place had an overall feeling of uncleanliness. It was an absolute rip-off, and I definitely won’t be returning.
Had the pleasure of enjoying a few nightcaps here while staying at the Voco Grand Central. Champagne Central is an elegant bar, built in the historic addition to the Grand Central hotel in the early 1900’s. Adorned with some beautiful decor from a stunning crystal chandelier, to the original marble floor that was once covered by a carpet to a series of windows that overlook the main train terminal. Great place to come to start the night with some bubbly, or to end it with some truly excellent drinks. Our host was Moriarty, bartender extraordinaire who makes one of the best Whiskey Sours I’ve ever had. The vibe is lively, but not overly energetic. There is a cute side room for more intimate gatherings as well. In a city full of bar options, this is one to put on your list to see.
Champagne Central has a great reputation for their drinks menu and afternoon tea, so we were excited to go. Overall it was good. The drinks were good, but the only small setback was slower than normal service. We had to catch the servers’ eyes every time and at no point did anyone come to check in if we were ok or if we needed anything. I prefer attentive service, but if you’re more relaxed about it then it’s not a problem. The champagne, cocktails and gin were all very good.
Popped tonight for some love food and drinks. Romini, our server was very attentive and friendly. Lovely girl! Alex behind the bar made the most delicious cocktails! My son asked if he could make a cocktail that was not on the menu and he was happy to do so. Great place with great staffFood: 5/5
Lived up to it's fine reputation. I had an amazing time here people watching from above the busy Central Station. Can't wait to visit again. Highly recommended.
Disappointing afternoon tea. Staff were lovely, but the food was not - a couple of sandwiches, cakes which were underwhelming dry Battenberg, mousse cake sticking to the plate and 1 other. Scones were nice and coffee unlimited, but not worth £35 each. It was my teenage daughter’s first afternoon tea and she only ate a scone. Such a pity, as the room is lovely and I’ve always enjoyed the hotel and bar, but would certainly avoid the afternoon tea option.
A hidden gem! One assumes a restaurant in a railway station is an overpriced takeaway type venue….we were so wrong! Lovely food, great ambience and staff were beyond helpful. Not just a quick bite-a good quality restaurant in its own right.Food: 5/5
Wonderful Staff and the maitradee lady allowed me to sit in the restaurant with my cocktail az I had bags of shopping ..big shout out to her and the bar lady on afternoon of 5th October 2023
