The Brewery Tap

Story

Cains is a brewery in Liverpool, England, founded in 1858 by Robert Cain. The company merged with Peter Walker & Son in 1921 to form Walker Cains. Peter Walker & Son had a large brewery in Warrington so sold its Liverpool brewery to Higsons in 1923. Boddingtons of Manchester took over in 1985. In 1990 Whitbread acquired Boddington's brewing operations and closed the then Higsons Brewery in 1990. It was reopened by GB Breweries, who became part of Bryggerigruppen in 1991, and in 2002 was sold to Gardener-Shaw for £3.4 million. The brewery closed in June 2013 with debts totalling more than £8m.HistoryThe Cains brewery was founded by Irishman Robert Cain in 1858 when he bought an established brewery. Cain had begun his brewing career aged 24 when he purchased a pub and brewed his own ales.Within 25 years of founding his brewery, Cain had established 200 pubs, including the Philharmonic Dining Rooms, the Vines and the Central Commercial Hotel, which are currently listed as being of architectural merit. His personal mansion had each window arch inscribed with his monogram. In 1887 construction began on a second brewery.

Situated just on the corner of the Baltic markets front entrance, the brewery tap stands out for its relaxed atmosphere and fantastic cask ale selection. Its drinks are also great value considering its location and it’s a perfect spot for a quiet afternoon drink or a pre-drink before hitting the Baltic market or the jacaranda.Service: 5/5

Nice interior. Smell good inside. Don't look about what windows advertising saying...that prices is before Brexit :.
Looks like a nice place but don't make an effort to go there. Since it's a bit out of the centre, I checked the opening hours to be sure it wouldn't be a wasted trip. So fortunately I knew it advance it closes unusually early 9pm But when I walked there from town, arriving just before 8pm, I was told they were going to close early. In 5 minutes. It really bothers me when that happens. I think it shows disrespect to customers to randomly change business hours. In my case, it was my last night in Liverpool and there were numerous places I wanted to experience but I chose this one because it was in the old brewery and looked interesting. But in the end it was just a 20 minute walk there and 20 minute walk back regretting my choice. One star review may be a bit harsh because if you are passing, and it's open then give it a go by all means. Might be a great experience for you. But for me, it was just an annoying waste of time.
Nice pub and nice staff but draught Cider had run out, I could understand that in a busy night but not a Thursday afternoon.
