Visited on a wet September weekday with my wife for a late lunch, so we sat inside rather than outside overlooking the river.nWe were quickly attended to by the cheerful waitress. There was a selection of four hand-pulled real ales. The menu selection was good. The meals came quickly.nI had the pie of the day chicken, bacon and sweetcorn with chips, gravy, broccoli and green beans. Pie pastry was very good. My wife had two starters as a main: potato and leek soup and vegetable spring rolls. The soup was 'gloopy' and the spring rolls were so thin it was hard to detect the vegetables.nOverall the experience was good.
Had a lovely roast this afternoon. I had pork and my husband had beef. It was delicious.nCould have done with a little more gravy because it was so yummy. We ate outside by the river.nThere was an absolutely amazing singer on too. Rhiannon Paige!nThe summer vibes were absolutely spot on.
Visited on a really hot bank holiday day and managed to get a seat outside by the river. The staff were working tirelessly and nothing was too much trouble. The food was worth the wait and we will return no matter what the season because the inside was gorgeous too.
Very nice food, and a lovely location. Really good service for the number of us who were there. Maybe a bit pricey, but honestly very similar to other places
I visited The Boat Inn for lunch with my parents after going to Chepstow Castle. I chose this pub because it has good reviews for gluten-free options and I am coeliac.nnThe lunch menu isn't really marked up with any GF options but they can be flexible. They didn't have any GF bread in yesterday so I opted for steak with cheese, salad and chips all gluten-free. The portion size was generous and the food itself was delicious.nnService was great too and the staff were very welcoming and friendly.nnThe building itself is clearly quite old as the ceiling bows in places but this adds to its character. If I'm ever in Chepstow again, I will be back!
