Gorgeous interior. Very Festive inside which is nice running up to Christmas. Front desk staff were very friendly.nRoom was immaculate and had everything required for our stay.nnNipped into the bar before leaving for a wedding. Good choice of drinks. Little confusion from the staff, directed us to a vacant table and asked us to move 10 minutes later because it was reserved. Very slight inconvenience all in all but could irk some other visitors.nnAlso, Breakfast is well worth the money in my opinion. Also prepared vegetarian sausages when required
We stayed at The Bedford Swan last weekend to celebrate my aunt’s 80th birthday. While much of the weekend was enjoyable and several staff members were welcoming, one interaction seriously detracted from the experience.nnA staff member named Alexandra, who identified herself as Head of the Tea Room and implied she was the most senior person on duty, behaved in a rude and discourteous manner. We were seated in an area near the kitchen that is clearly accessible to guests and allows ample space for staff to pass. Despite this, she made inappropriate remarks about my one-year-old niece and my father, who is in his 70s, as they were carefully navigating the stairs. She then reprimanded us for sitting in an area the hotel itself makes available to guests.nnThere was no obstruction and no reasonable justification for speaking to guests in this way. Her tone was dismissive and unnecessary, and it left us feeling unwelcome during what should have been a special family celebration. It demonstrates a lack of staff training and manner. This incident unfortunately affected their overall perception of the hotel.nnA trip marred by a a staff member's superiority complex.. Disappointing experience that falls well below the level of service expected.
1. It was a shame no one mentioned that you don’t do food after 5-00 pm on a Sunday.n2. The mirrors in the bathroom are two high.n3. It would be good to have a tv bracket that would enable you to see the TV from the bedroom.nI think someone should have told us the fire alarm go’s off on a Monday morning twice.nn4. The bedrooms were amazingn5. The hotel is beautiful.n6. The lady that checked us out on Monday was fantastic.n7. We will definitely stay again as we visit friends and family in Bedford on a regular basis
We had a great time at the Bedford Swan. It’s a lovely hotel. The staff were friendly and helpful.nWe’ve stayed twice now and had a great experience both times. The only reason I gave 4 stars is because I went for the upgrade - the classic king room but it didn’t seem much different to the classic double which we stayed in last time.nThe sprinklers in the swimming pool in the spa seemed very temperamental.nIt would also be great if you could provide more parking as the car park is very small.nnOverall a great hotel and two very pleasant stays.
Went for festive afternoon tea and got there 5 minutes early which was lucky because there was no one to greet or seat us, so tried the reception desk who told me to wait someone would seat us but 10 minutes later still no one came, so had to ask another member of staff who couldn't seat us either but he could find someone who could so not a great start. Once seated the waitress was very nice and helpful. The sandwiches were nice apart from the smoked salmon which had the thinest piece of salmon I had ever seen. The scones were good and all the deserts were exceptional so overall a mixed review, not sure it's worth the 10 percent discretionary service charge but the Christmas crackers are always a nice treat.
