This is one of the most historical pubs in Oxford. The first of many pubs opened in this beautiful city. I recommend it at least for a pint. Still well worth and cheap. The ceiling is very low so it's not the best for tall people. All the walls are covered with ties cutted from the students that completed their studies in Oxford. A nice tradition!

Nice place to hang out for a few hours on a Sunday. Food and beer are good and an extra star for the atmospheric location. Staff are friendly as are many of the patrons.

Risky, tiny pub dating from 1242 apparently and filled with old ties. Good ales and friendly atmosphere. Packed at the weekend.

A slightly hidden away sanctuary in busy Oxford. It is ancient, and a pleasure to sit and enjoy a beer or two away from the bustling streets. There are thousands of 'clipped off' tie ends from drinkers who were happy to exchange a snip off their tie for a half-pint of beer. I enjoyed reading the labels attached to these ties, and some of them at least 100 years. Very good beer served by very happy bar staff. I visited in the mid afternoon and got a lovely seat by the window. There was a spare chess set, so enjoyed a game with my other half. All in all a delightful afternoon and I felt privileged to enjoy such a historical place.

Beautiful small pub, rich with history with an excellent selection of drinks and exquisite food. Live music nights are special as the venue is so small, it's very intimate.
