Stopped by here for a quick cuppa and was delightfully surprised by the lovely area. Service was great and the tea was a lovely brew made with tea leaves. My husband and I had earl grey and the in laws had black tea. The delicious chocolates that they provided on the side were a really nice touch. We noticed another table ordered fish n chips and when it came out it looked and smelt fantastic. I think we will be back very soon to try the food :)

This was a return visit after a couple of years. Stayed on a special offer deal for the Sunday ( lunch, dinner, room and breakfast). The rooms as always were clean, well decorated and very comfortable. The food was excellent. It has always been good, but was even better now - good quality ingredients, well cooked and nicely presented. Recommended.

Full of typical Dales charm with a huge helping of Lakeland warmth The Black Swan offers an idyllic spot to base yourself for that romantic weekend or an energetic walking based break. I have visited this wonderful small hotel on numerous occasions with my partner, in fact it was where we had our first date! Its charm never fails to impress and is well complimented by a very attentive and professional staff who go out of their way to make you feel at home. The restaurant serves good traditional fare with a local twist and is of a particularly high standard. I thoroughly recommend the Black Swan for a short or longer stay in a most striking and beautiful part of the country

Very easy to find just a short detour off the M6 at Tebay but it feels like the middle of nowhere. Our room was cosy and clean. We ate in the bar for dinner and in the restaurant for breakfast, both were excellent. The staff were very helpful with gluten free menu options.

My husband and I stayed here in January 2018 to celebrate our 40th birthdays. We had a fantastic stay starting with a room upgrade as a birthday present from The Black Swan. The room was very comfortable, the staff were very friendly and helpful, the beer and wine were great, our evening meal was amazing and the breakfast was tasty and filling. Couldn't fault the place or staff. Would definitely recommend and hope to be back.
