Have been here twice now and both times had a lovely stay. Stayed for a weekend in one of the suites. The room itself was a great size and the bed was comfy. Very quiet at night.nnAll of the staff we encountered were so lovely and helpful. We asked if we could get a cream tea one afternoon down at the bar and even tho it wasn’t on the menu they were able to bring us tea, warm scones and a very generous helping of jam and cream! Breakfast was delicious. Classic full-English which was frequently refreshed and service was great with staff clearing tables/being on hand if you needed anything.nnThe spa can get busy during the day with day-spa guests so we went back in the early evening and it was so quiet and relaxing. Great facilities. The jacuzzi was out of action whilst we visited but it wasn’t that much of an inconvenience as we could still relax on the loungers and use the sauna/steam.nnI had a 100-minute facial, scalp and body-wrap treatment which was lovely. The Elemis products they use are great. I got there 15mins before the treatment but didn’t go through til perhaps a couple of minutes past the start time. I wouldn’t have minded but it then ended a few mins short of the finish time too. I didn’t mind so much as it was still a long treatment time but better time management would go a long way!nnOverall, a great stay and can’t wait to visit again for a relaxing weekend.
Falsely advertised through Spabreaks.com. as a modern hotel with a luxury spa!! Unfortunately it is in severe need of a refurbishment, a booking system for the spa facilities and overall TLC!nnMy fiancé had paid for my friend and I to have an overnight break with a 25 minute facial and £25 to spend on dinner each, which came to £287 in total!!nnBoth of us received very rushed and disappointing treatments, where my makeup wasn’t even removed properly. We then tried to enter the spa, with robes that were ill fitting, and found that the pool was at maximum capacity, pools of water all over the floor and children splashing and running around at 4.30pm, making for the opposite for a ‘spa’ environment.nWe then tried to access the sauna and steam room, both, as well as the jacuzzi, were also at maximum capacity. The seats and loungers were also all taken up with towels and families meaning we didn’t even have anywhere to sit down to relax or read our books.nnWe then decided to check into our rooms, have dinner and attend the spa when we were told it would be quieter. We were then greeted with plaster wrappers down the side of the bed, mould, dust, torn curtains and a dirty toilet with a broken seat.nnWe were offered a room upgrade and a bottle of Prosecco by friendly reception staff. We ideally would not have wanted to stay there, but didn’t have a choice as we were two hours drive away from home. We were assured that as the booking was made through spabreaks, that we would need to reach out to them to get any sort of compensation or a refund for our extremely disappointing experience which was completely miss sold.
Similar to other reviews, this spa is not a luxury spa experience.nnThere are around 6 loungers and a handful of chairs, so almost impossible to find somewhere to sit and the plastic loungers are incredibly uncomfortable.nnThe sauna, steam room and jacuzzi are always full to capacity although all very nice if you can get in them.nnThe pool is nice, but less so when full of kids.nnUpstairs, the tranquility lounge is fairly pleasant - but could easily be so much more. It was chilly, and could have had a diffuser to make it smell nicer.nnAfternoon tea was ok - although the milk for the tea and the clotted cream for the scones seemed to be on the turn, and the sandwiches were very much room temperature suggesting nothing had been kept refrigerated.nnThe treatments massage and facial were ok. The therapist was very lovely but didn't know who she was meant to be treating nor what had been booked - it seemed very disorganised.nnWhen we arrived we were left waiting to check in with no acknowledgement from any of the staff nearby, and when we left we had to ask for the gift set which was part of our package and people had to then phone around to find who had these - again very disorganised.nnOverall the day was ok, but I wouldn't pay £109per person for a spa you can't really sit in or use properly, treatments which were just ok, and an afternoon tea which had partly gone off.
Came for a party, the main reception was nicely done out but where we was sent was very dated. Great sized rooms but could go with a refresh. The bar had 2 staff members but only one serving as the other was just stood looking at us whilst someone else was served. Paid £8 for a lemonade and a Pepsi! Crazy prices
Spa and hotel in urgent need of renovation, pool is small and busy, few loungers and seats. Nowhere to leave a towel. Steam room falling apart, sauna small and old. Whole place looked unsanitary. Visited for a valentines break with use of the facility’s, my own local gym has better facilities. Staff in the spa reception were unhelpful and unwelcoming.nnRoom decor is dated, very basic. Beds uncomfortable, twin beds pushed together. Terrace bar closed throughout the day. Golf club didn’t answer the phone so I couldn’t make a booking to visit the range.nnBreakfast was good, hot and good choice, everything else was awful!nnWould not recommend, feel completely ripped off!
