Salesman welcomed me politely, I was allowed to test drive the vehicle on my own. I was given plenty of time to inspect the vehicle alone without interruption which is good when one is looking over a vehicle one is wishing to purchase. Not feeling pressured at all, had plenty of time to seriously think over my decision. Friendly and honest salesman which is rare I think. I put down a deposit after some negotiation and walked away happy knowing I had been treated well and fair. I have purchased a new used car. I will be looking for a second vehicle in time to come and will revisit “Thatcham Motor Company Ltd”.
A wonderful experience from start to finish with both guys I dealt with. Great communication. Super helpful. Not pushy. Great car. When I got home I identified two minor problems to do with the lock on the boot and the control switch for the passenger front window. Neither were covered by the warranty but they were totally on board in helping me get this fixed. Can’t rate them highly enough. Thanks Shezad and Umaire. Probably the wrong spelling but you know who I mean. I’m a satisfied and grateful customer and I love having a Kia again.
Bought a car in December 2022. About 3 weeks later an engine warning light was shown. Phoned the car seller and they immediately arranged for it to be looked at at a garage in Reading. A few days later the car was fixed and it was told by the garage the clutch had been replaced though I am not sure if that ever really happened as I never saw any paperwork for it. Afterwards, the car was running fine for several months. About 3 months ago, I noticed that there was something wrong with the automatic gearbox. When you are stuck in a traffic jam, the gear shifts are harsh when moving slowly and when sitting still, the car is pushing forward. I brought the car to the Ford main dealer who did a costly gearbox service and unfortunately, it hasn’t helped. The problem is still there. I brought the car to a different garage and their analysis is that it looks like the car has a pressure-based issue. Changing the automatic gearbox alone would not fix the issue. There also seems an issue with the clutch and/or valve body. All in all, to have the gearbox and clutch/valve body replaced, would cost around £4000 or more. I am pretty sure that this problem has been there before but it only manifests itself when you are driving more than 30 Minutes and you are stuck in traffic. I am convinced that the previous owner of the car knew about this problem and that’s the reason he sold the car. I don’t know if the car dealer knew about it or not. Fact is, that the car is faulty and I am worried about driving it. I only had it for 9 months and wasted £6000 plus potential fixing costs of more than £4000. Not happy at all.
Great place to buy a car, very helpful. Bought a quality car from them, couldn't be happier, they sell quality second user cars. May pay a little extra, but you get a little extra.
Bought a Daihatsu Sirion for the mother-in-law here last weekend. The car is as it should be, happy with it. Very relaxed experience from start to finish, no pressure, Anna and The Boss both easy going, helpful and efficient. Would happily deal with this company again.
Avoid! We purchased Mazda 6 from them 2 years ago. Since the beginning we had been experiencing nothing but trouble, stress and costs associated with that car. They sold us a car with a faulty engine and blamed it on us! Barely two years later we have to scrap the car as it is unroadworthy. Save your money and go elsewhere. Would give zero stars if I could!
AVOID: Untrustworthy; the type that give 2nd hand car dealers a bad name. I bought car from them and less than 6 weeks later, the rear differential needs replacing. And it turns out they sold me a car with faulty front brakes too. Despite this and that the Consumer Rights Act of 2015 is clear in making it their responsibility to either correct or refund if a fault comes to light between 30 days and 6 months, they are refusing to acknowledge this and are refusing to put this right. I am going to have to take action in the courts. This is an open and shut case - they are certain to be found liable, but despite this it's going to cost time and money. Nevertheless. Too many people get ripped off by dealers like this and it can't be allowed to stand. Dreadful way to behave. DON'T BUY FROM THIS OUTFIT. They're cowboys. 100%. If I could give 0 Stars in this review, I would.
As the 3 month warranty has expired on my Honda accord I purchased from the Thatcham motor company, I promised Shaz I will write about my experience. *From start to finish Shaz was very helpful throughout the warranty and the purchase of the car. *When I test drove the vehicle Shaz trusted me to go alone and was not pushy with the sale. *I had a minor issue a month after purchasing the vehicle which was rectified without hesitation *To date the vehicle is driving superb with no issues In my experience if your looking for a trustworthy car garage which can be difficult to find then look no further than Thatchum motor company. I will surely return when I need another car. Thanks team and keep up the good work.
I had a fantastic experience dealing with Thatcham Motor company. I travelled all the way from Southend and found the car exactly as it was advertised on their website. All my enquiries were satisfactorily answered by their helpful on-site staff which, I did not find pushy. The car felt great to drive back home. I have been using the car regularly since the purchase 2 months ago and so far, It has not given me any grief. I would definitely buy again from Thatcham Motor Company and would unreservedly recommend them to anyone looking to buy a quality used car.
I had been on the search for a reliable, low mileage used car for a number of weeks and noticed Thatcham Motors consistently pop up on my searches. The key was I didn't have a particular make / model in mind so decided to give them a call to discuss their stock. As soon as I spoke to the guys, I had a good feeling about them due to the honesty with which they were supporting my decision so I went to view a couple of options. I ended up going with a modern classic BMW 5 series I spotted on the day because the condition and price were so good and I am still ecstatic with my choice. They were happy for me to conduct an independent inspection and it threw up zero concerns! There were a couple of issues that cropped up a few days later - one which turned out to be an electrical error due to the replaced battery and the other was misted headlights - which they resolved promptly, at my convenience and their cost! An honest second hand car salesman is hard to find and I haven't hesitated in recommending them since. 5* all round. Thank you Umair , Shehzad and gang :
