Favourite art place! Going every few months or when new exhibitions added. Great place for adults and kids. Spacious with enough benches to rest in between. Good to buy tickets in advance for paid events as sometimes they sell out fast.
We have been here a few times and there is so much to see that we will need to come back. A favourite feature is the view from the 6th floor café across the river Thames to St Paul's Cathedral. That area used to have more open viewing platforms but these were closed on the day we came. The main exhibition areas are free of charge which makes this an attractive place to visit.
Tate Modern is easily one of my top three art museums in the world — a bold, ever-evolving space that continually delivers thought-provoking exhibitions and world-class curation. Housed in an iconic converted power station on the South Bank, the museum itself is as striking as the art it holds — vast, industrial, and unmistakable in its silhouette.nnEntry to the main collections is free, and the building is massive, giving you plenty of space to explore without feeling rushed or crowded. On my recent visit, I caught the Leigh Bowery show, which was absolutely compelling. His short but extraordinary life left a distinct and undeniable mark on the art world and beyond — a powerful tribute to a true icon of performance, fashion, and identity.nnAnother highlight is the Media Networks section, which explores how artists over the past century have responded to the influence of mass media and ever-evolving technologies. It’s a fascinating look at shifting cultural narratives through the eyes of artists like Roy Lichtenstein, Mark Bradford, and China’s Wang Guangyi.nnEven on a Saturday, it didn’t feel too packed. Its riverside location, proximity to great restaurants, and sheer scale make it an ideal cultural stop in the heart of London. A solid 5 out of 5 — inspiring, dynamic, and always worth returning to.
I’ve been to Tate Modern two or three times now, and each visit was completely different. I always came across new installations. The last time, I visited the Anthony McCall: Solid Light exhibition, which was really unique and thought-provoking.nOverall, it’s an interesting and unusual experience, especially if you’re into experimental or abstract art. Personally, I think ultra-modern art might not fully be my thing — but if you’re curious about bold and unconventional creativity, it’s definitely worth a visit.
The Tate Modern is one of London’s most iconic art galleries, offering an impressive range of contemporary and modern art. Located in the former Bankside Power Station, the gallery’s vast industrial space creates a striking backdrop for its diverse exhibitions. Whether you're an art enthusiast or a casual visitor, Tate Modern has something for everyone.nnOne of its highlights is the sheer variety of art on display. The galleries house everything from classic modernist works to cutting-edge contemporary pieces. Fans of Pop Art will enjoy works from legendary artists like Andy Warhol and Roy Lichtenstein, whose bold colors and playful designs capture the essence of consumer culture. For those who appreciate obscure and conceptual art, Tate Modern pushes boundaries with installations that challenge perceptions and invite deep interpretation. These thought-provoking pieces, often blending media like sculpture, sound, and digital technology, provide a unique experience that lingers long after your visit.nnFamilies and younger visitors will appreciate the kids’ drawing gallery, a wonderful interactive space where children can create their own artwork inspired by the exhibitions. It’s a great way to engage young minds and introduce them to the world of art in a fun and creative environment.nnBeyond the exhibitions, Tate Modern also offers breathtaking views of the Thames from its top-floor viewing deck, making it worth a visit for the scenery alone. Whether you're there to admire the masterpieces or simply explore, Tate Modern is an unmissable destination for art lovers of all ages.
