The gallery was fine but no one was allowed to take their handbag in. I would certainly not have gone if I had known. It was not advertised and my bag was searched anyway before being taken to the cloakroom. I gave no objection to my bag being searched; in the last year I've visited many art galleries and museums and the Westminster, Welsh and Scots Parliaments where I was always allowed to keep my bag. If the barbican insist on this horrible rule they should at least prominently declare it on all advertising and websites, so that art lovers can make an informed choice as to whether they still want to see the exhibition. Rant over.

4 hour time allowance was not long enough . Recommended time allocated was actually 1.5 hours !?!. Great exhibition Basquiat is a two visit gallery 🔚🔙🔜👑👑👑

Small art gallery, but always thought provoking. Sometimes interactive! Definitely modern/contemporary. Please drop in if you're in the area or are seeing a film at the cinema.
