What a lovely place!..Just returned from a very nice unforgettable 3 night stay at Appartment 8 Symonds Yat Rock Lodge. ..self catering for 2 people.. Modern,bright,very clean and airy accommodation. .mezzinine bedroom experience. ..really comfortable bed with a memory foam mattress. .lovely country view at back..very rural area. ..All you could need there to start you off.toilet rolls,washing up liquid,shower gel.tea towel.tea,coffee and milk.towels are provided..central heating,.well equiped kitchen with dish washer ect.... We toook a lot of things with us,that perhaps we didnt need..and food wise.there is a Lydls in Monmouth 5 miles away to stock up.. also there are places to eat in the area.. Our friend stayed in one of the single B&B rooms over the way from us .number 4, he was pleased with his accomodation having all he needed..ground floor..bed,TV.shower,heating ect...not so modern as our accommodation and no view..but great for walkers and people with dogs..and big door mats to wipe feet Our friend came over to our Lodge to share meals,views in mornings and company in evenings..So the best of both worlds.. Lodge and b&b has very good parking area..and all is near to lovely walks in the Forest of Dean and Symonds Yat..in fact opposite, over the road... I thought the self catering lodges were ideal for us..we were lucky with the weather, and if you had to stop in the lodge for any length of time it would be very pleasant and comfortable..books and games are also there... Darren and Claire Scales make everyone welcome there..and if someone isn't bed an breakfast, breakfast can be ordered the night before and paid for....also lovely little garden from the dining room,where you can get wi Fi reception..but who really needs to be on wi Fi too long when there is so much to explore all around and make for lasting memories...

Always clean and tidy. Great place to head off for walks in the forest and down to the river. The forest is just over the road. Lovely views from the rooms down into the valley. Dogs welcome.

Had a fantastic weekend in one of the self catering Lodges. The facilities are everything you need for a very comfortable weekend, the view from the large windows across open fields, with sheep coming almost to your door, forces you to relax and you feel a million miles from the hustle and bustle of normal life. The Forest of Dean is right outside your door with wonderful walks which led down to the river and a lovely pub serving first class lunches. The owners were very accommodating , do not understand the negative review. We will definitely be back for some more chill time in proper countryside.
