Quite possibly the best pub in the country. I first walked in cashless only to be sat down and bought drinks and welcomed by all of the locals. Fast forward 10 months, the landlord, the punters, the crack are all second to none, you won’t find a funnier, more genuine group of people anywhere. Can’t wait to come back
Impressively anachronistic. Gents loo sign says it all. A classic village pub in a classic northern village. Very well worth a stop off.Food: 3/5
A very nice pub in a village that has a lot of happy memories for me. Because my Mum and my Auntie were born and brought up there. I have a lot of happy memories of family time spent there, so a bit of a personal, special and emotional day.
Grate local pub. Good selection of beers at reasonable prices. Excellent staff well worth a visitService: 4/5
Tired isn’t the word. If there is any consolation this place will clearly close soon. Only one other customer on a Sunday afternoon. The bar man proudly pointed to a sign saying they don’t accept card payments. No idea how it’s still going. Avoid
Why are there only a paltry 5 stars available..? This pub deserves 500..!!!! It is without doubt and without contention “The! Very best pub in Stamfordham, and may very well be the Best pub.. though there may a contender for that accolade from a small village in the South West… though they may have a strong contender, it’s not a patch on the Swinney, bar none!!
Fantastic village pub standing on the green. Great range of real ales on pump, wines and soft drinks available. Real local atmosphere with many regulars. Expect to be spoken to by friends you haven't met yet. Favourite pub with many local farmers after a hard day. Entertainment at weekends and occasional hog roasts on special occasions. Garden out the back and plenty of outdoor seating in the summer. Worth a visit to sample a classic local.
Bike meet. For Hallowed saints. Tuesday nights. 1730hrs onwards. Friendly pub, lovely surroundings
A must visit place. Village Green pub. Excellent real ale choice. Friendly staff & locals. Highly recommended
The best welcome in the North East! Genuinely wonderful people in a stunning place. Fantastic Wedding Venue with garden Marquee and views for miles. Highly recommend and look forward to my next visit.
