Lovely restaurant with great staff and delicious food. My fiance and I booked here for our anniversary and we were greeted with a warm smile and a cosy table. I'm gluten free and luckily most of the menu is gluten free as well. We had a dinner for two and it was delicious, very generous portions so we couldn't eat all of it and took it home for the next day. I had mentioned on the booking form that it was an anniversary ans the staff hand wrote us a card and gave us a wrapped bar of chocolate. Really lovely experience. We will be making the drive back to try more of the menu Dietary restrictions: Lots of gluten free options and very knowledgeable on cross contamination
Came here for our Daughters Birthday as she is celiac and they offer a good gluten free menu. To avoid any possible confusion or potential mix up with our meal choices, we all decided to just pick from the gluten free menu and it was great, very nice indeed! I’ve eaten some gluten free meals before and I could certainly taste the difference with some of them, but here, it tasted lovely and just like what we would taste if we ordered from the standard menu. We did order quite a lot of various dishes so we could sample a wide, varied selection and all the food came correct and in good time. There were no mistakes made when our server took our order and we did not have to wait long at all for our food to come. A side note relating to the staff here, there were two servers on duty when we came and both were super friendly, super attentive and a credit to the restaurant. It wasn’t exactly busy when we came, but they didn’t stop helping the clients that were in there eating. As stated, we ordered quite a few different dishes, so too many to list them all, but all I can say is everything from the noodles, salt and pepper chips to the chicken and duck dishes from the gluten free menu were very, very nice. It’s quite a small compact restaurant but is well presented, clean and tables are economically laid out. It’s also well located in Manchester, just a short walk to the Arndale Shopping Centre. Another big plus for me is they employ a paper towel dispenser in the toilets for drying your hands after washing, rather than the very unhygienic hot air blowers. Something small and insignificant to most people, but a big plus for me. If you’re a fan of this style of cuisine and are looking for a good gluten free place to eat, then you won’t go far wrong coming here.
We were visiting Manchester for a show at the AO Arena. As a coeliac, eating out is not an easy task and can cause heightened anxiety and stress. Well what a delightful treat we had dining at the Sweet Mandarin restaurant. The food was amazing, service was so friendly and attentive and a fantastic atmosphere. My husband is not coeliac and loved the gf food non- gf food is also available. Both of us were more disappointed we couldn't take home our leftovers because we weren't allowed to take food into the AO Arena , but maybe next time .
Sweet Mandarin. Came for hubbys birthday, i was so looking forward to eating a Chinese again after 10yrs being diagnosed coeliac and not being able to. This place its hided away in Manchester city centre. The one think ive miss so much is seaweed and chow mein.. Gluten free cocktail. Gluten free Special fried rice for hubby and son, pawn crackers for them as well. For me I chose gluten free seaweed, gluten Special chow mein. It was OK came out a bit quick though, so not sure about that. Yes I don't like waiting for ever for food. But I expect to wait more than 10mins in a restaurant. Again it's brilliant that it gluten free and everything cooked separate for us coeliacs. But I think for the price it could of been better and more flavor. I would of loved to say it was amazing food. But it was standard food. Would I go again? Think if the lower there price a bit then yes. So bigg thumps up for the coeliac safe food and staff Ok food in terms of flavour Big thumps down for price Dietary restrictions: Coeliac safe.
Havent had good gluten free chinese for a long while now. And this fully satisfied my craving. Air conditioning made our hot day felt nice too.Food: 5/5
This place is just a take away guys. I will definitely not recommend this to someone who want to spend time on some anniversary or date with your another part really disappointed The food was really salty and don’t taste like Chinese food everything taste same I don’t know who writes reviews for you but they don’t have a clue about the Chinese Cuisine The website looks really good and this review about gluten free push me to take my partner on us anniversary I even booked the table but you can just walk in to this place is like the bistro Service is very poor and food really bad everything over salted This is not romantic place like they said on the website !!!!! Save your money for something else Dietary restrictions: Food is over salty and don’t taste like Chinese Cousins won’t recommend this place
First time visit As a gluten and lactose intolerant person i would recommend this place 100% of the time Food was amazing service was great And atmosphere was calm and relaxing Great place to go Dietary restrictions: Gluten free and vegan menu options
I was looking forward to finding a gluten-free Chinese restaurant with my partner and came across sweet mandarin. However, I can say my experience was memorable, only for reasons which are disappointing. We ordered some spring rolls that were okay. Unfortunately, I don’t know what happened to the main. The chicken was tasteless and had clearly been reheated, an overly boiled taste? The noodles on the chicken chow mein had a thick layer of slime; and the beef noodle was far too salty to finish. Please see attached Personally, I’m not someone who would raise complaints in person and would hate to cause a scene. Otherwise, I would have refused the bill. Please find this review as critical feedback to improve and not as a form of attack.
What a wonderful experience. Booked a birthday meal with family, service was immaculate and friendly, the food was delicious and the portions were very generous! We chose to eat here for the fact that being gluten free is taken very seriously - that and the rave reviews! Will definitely be back, the whole family had a wonderful time and my daughter was delighted she had so much choice. Thank you to all the staff who were just lovely Dietary restrictions: Only place I’ve ever been where the GF menu is identical to the main menu. Amazing.
Great place! The food was delicious and the atmosphere was cozy. We had spring rolls and chicken chow mein.Food: 5/5
