Steep price for a buffet place with average food. Only worthwhile items are the desserts. I have been to many buffets in Manchester this is not the one you want to be coming to! Spend your money elsewhere. Misleading poster as well we thought it was 2 for 1!
I was really impressed with this place. All you can eat places are often greasy and full of potatoes and other fillers. Not this place! What a variety! The savoury food was excellent, even my vegan friend found a massive amount of variety. The only reason I'm giving it 4 and not 5 is I found the puddings a bit samey.
There is a great variety of food, yet much of it is often cold, or simply not there, and the wait for the food to be put out again is quite long, and a few times it has tasted a little undercooked. I cannot really fault the desserts though. Drinks, on the other hand... we ordered three pitchers of Pepsi, and despite our table being mere feet away from the drinks area, it took almost half an hour for our drinks to be brought. For the size of this restaurant, there are far too few serving staff to be able to efficiently wait all of the tables. We got our drinks, and then had to wait another half hour for the glasses to be brought to us. We ordered another two pitchers of Pepsi because we had a group of six, and one of them came to us heavily watered down to the point where it was undrinkable, which was not a pleasant surprise. It was replaced with a new pitcher, but the colouration was so radically different to normal Pepsi that it shouldn't have even made it to our table in the first place. Overall, I give this place two stars. I was not impressed with our meal tonight, which saddens me because I loved this restaurant back when it first opened. But I do not think my friends and I shall be eating here again unless there is some serious improvements.
We were a party of 6 and had booked beforehand. On arrival they gave us a table for 4 and just placed 2 additional chairs on either end. 80% of the restaurant was empty yet when i asked if we could be moved to a bigger table the one of the waiters just kept saying the bigger tables 'could be reserved'. In the end they reluctantly moved us to a bigger table but i could tell they weren't happy about it. To add further to the abysmal start, i had to wait for 10 minutes at the noodle bar before i got served. I noticed staff members eating whilst they were stood behind the food, hardly any staff were around and this was a Thursday evening. The food itself was awful. All very cold and hard, it was obvious that the food had been around for hours. The crispy duck in particular was vile and too salty, the pancakes hadn't even been warmed and the hoi sin sauce was blatantly watered down. A lot of the stands were empty so the food choices was scarce. Also, was slightly suspicious by how quickly my ice cream was melting despite my plate being cold. I've been here in the past and it's never been bad at all. I know this place has previously been in administration and now obviously it's not but to be honest they should have kept this place closed.
The food is far from great. It's very much average. Not even good. But there is a wide selection, as everyone mentions. If you're going with a large group of people with a wide taste, it may be OK. But don't expect great food. I like good food, so I won't be returning here. The service is less than impressive. They got our drinks mixed up with another table. They did the same thing to the table next to us. So that's 4 tables of wrong drinks in 10 minutes. It took much longer than 10 minutes to get our drinks, however. Also, the atmosphere is loud and busy. So don't expect any romantic dinners not that you should take your date to a buffet for a romantic night out - honestly, what are you thinking? Finally, students be warned: while they advertise student discount is available all weekdays, they do not count Thursday as a weekday apparently. I went on a Thursday and had to argue with them to get my student discount. They claimed it's a Sunday-Wednesday thing - which is fine if you state that, but they don't. I don't know of anyone or any other restaurant that considers Thursday a weekend. This place is very much NOT worth the money - even with a student discount that I had to fight to get!
We came here out of the blue having the feeling it'd be somewhat decent. The ambiance and layout of the restaurant was very nice. When we first got in we were greeted by a waitress who escorted us to a set right at the back miles away from the buffet. Seen as there were 5 of us, she placed us on a table meant for 4 people and one of us had to sit on the edge. We requested a larger table possibly a booth and her attitude started to get vile. She said in the most rude way possible 'you can try the booth over there but I'm not moving you again' when we had only requested another table once. We were moved and thankfully served by a much nicer American lady. The the food in the other hand wasn't all that was to be expected wasn't very nice. It's a great place if you've previously tried the specific food from a specific country before but it isn't good for first timers. And the tomato, oh god the tomato. Lets just say it was the most artificial tasting tomato I've ever had tasted in my life and it was oddly similar to the sushi I had tried and almost barfed. The chips almost made me choak because they were so dry. The food basically wasn't very good. Don't bring your valentine here. But, the desserts were great. They have a good selection of ice cream which you can go back as many times as you like and a wide selection of mini blackforest cakes, mini tiramisu, and a chocolate fountain which unfortunately only served marshmallows or fruit cake. Overall I'd rate my experience 3/10 and would suggest a different place unless it cannot be avoided. I will not be dining here again.
Myself and hubby came to eat here thinking it would be a nice meal out without the boys. Worried it might be popular and that they might be fully booked for lunch, we called a couple of days in advance to reserve a table. On the day of our lunch, we arrived just to be told that they're not open that day because of some technical fault! We took the train for 40 minutes to Manchester just to be told that! They could have inform us way before hand! Me being me, I just couldn't hide my annoyance and was clearly unhappy. At that point, the lady at the counter said she'll check if it's going to be a whole day issue or just for a few hours. She came back after 1 minute and told me that they could possibly open between 30 minutes to couple of hours while they sort the issue out, and suggested that we have a walk! I said to her to ring us up if the issue is sorted within an hour and she said yes but didn't ask for our number until I suggested for her to take my number down if she's going to call us! We then had a walk for just about 15 minutes, and surprisingly had a call from the lady at the counter that we can come back to join the buffet! It's good that it was quicker than we thought but what was all that roller coaster ride for??? We were grateful though, and happily returned to enjoy the buffet but were very disappointed... Most of the plates on the plate warmer were not properly cleaned and customers were seen looking for clean plates. Food were mostly cold unless you asked for the freshly cooked ones. Some food even tasted like it was reheated and didn't taste fresh my experience with the chicken wings and chicken drumsticks. Some ice-cream looked like it was re-frozen after it melted, and didn't look appetising. There was also no bowl for dessert or for soup. To be fair, most of the staff were friendly and helpful. Unfortunately, we just had a poor experience with the food and the quality of the cleanliness. Maybe that was the technical problem they had which they almost didn't open for the day! Anyway, I don't think we'll ever come again to have buffet here. Sorry.
It's food. A lot of food. A lot of variety. But it's not amazing quality - supermarket own brand or slightly better. Desserts there are genuinely good though but for me it's dessert or main. Not both. I think I probably missed the point of "All You Can Eat". I'm giving this a 2. It loses a star based on pricing. If it was £5 cheaper, I'd review it as a fun budget place to load up on a variety of foods but at £15 Friday/Saturday it's not all that much cheaper than a single course at a place in the Northern Quarter. Considering I gave the best burger place in Manchester a 4, I guess I'm a harsh rater.
Felt under pressure to eat quickly and get out! Food was okay with a good range to choose from but have been to better and cheaper buffets. Staff were helpful bringing out a birthday cake and even sang Happy Birthday to my niece. As it's on Deansgate, parking is expensive unless you don't mind a bit of a walk. Not a bad place if you want a set budget, a choice of meals and want to eat quickly.
This is my first review of a restaurant which I went to with a party of twenty. Now, if you have ever been on an all inclusive holiday in the Canary Islands, then you will be very familiar with the set up at the Red Hot World Buffet. They have vast range of different cuisines, but I must admit, I was a little surprised at the quality. It was much better than I was expecting. The biggest thing for me was how polite and patient the waiting staff were. As the last customers in there, they asked up to pay very gently. I think this is a major plus point. I, like you will certainly remember times when waiting staff have just thrown the bill down telling you they want to leave. Well done Red Hot!
