Extremely disappointing! Having been given a place in the London Marathon this year, my husband was excited to buy a new pair of trainers. Having had several pairs over the last few years with varying levels of success, he decided it was time to get some professional advice and invest in a new pair. Our closest Sweatshop is Oxford (a 50 minute journey from home). We arrived, the perfect customers, ready to throw money at the store. We walked in the shop to find three guys standing behind the counter, chatting. After a few minutes of us looking at the trainer selection, nothing had changed. Not one person had asked if we needed assistance. We went to the counter and expressed interest in buying some trainers and using their gait analysis. The guy who served us just said, “sorry, the running machine isn’t working so we can’t do it.” Okay, so maybe we were a little silly to travel an hour without checking, but we kind of just assumed that a well known sports shop which claims to do gait analysis would do just that! Anyway, having travelled a distance, we didn’t give up and asked the assistant for some advice. He was USELESS. Absolutely no effort at all and simply answered our questions with short answers. Alan Sugar would have torn this ‘sales assistant’ to shreds as I honestly don’t even think he could have sold candy floss at the seaside. We were there, willing to buy an expensive pair of trainers (because everyone knows new trainers = faster marathon! 👍) and he totally put us off. Oh, and when we asked when the running machine would be working, he said, “uh, I don’t know as it’s been broken for 5 weeks!” 5 weeks?! They could have bought a new one or had it fixed several times in that period! Shocking attitude from a business that advertises a ‘service’ within its stores. As we left, we noticed some half price running belts. Whilst perusing the choice, all three ‘sales assistants’ stared at us, as if we might be tempted to pocket some of the £5 clearance water bottles/belts. We didn’t. Annoyingly, we bought one as they were a good price although looking back, the business really didn’t deserve our custom. So anyway, if you’ve got this far, you’ll realise we were not impressed one bit with sweatshop in Oxford and can now see why their google reviews are pretty poor overall. Having travelled a while to get there, we didn’t want the journey to be a complete waste of time so had a walk around the city. It was lovely and I’d recommend tea and cake in the cafe down the road. And I’m sure the cake was equally beneficial to my husband’s marathon training... 😂

Wow- my initial service was very kind and helpful. Unfortunately a mistake was made somewhere between purchasing the shoes and returning home and not realizing it immediately I tried out my new trainers for a run at the gym. Low and behold it was an entire size too small and my toes at the end of my run went numb. When I returned home and looked at the box I was shocked to see that the size was a size too small. When I tried to return them the manager was most rude and emphatic that he could not take them back because of a little dirt on the heel. When I told him he could clean them he responded, "I don't have the cleaning materials here." A smart manager would have embraced the opportunity to make amends and take the possible hit. Honestly I know I too have some responsibility for not triple checking my purchase but in this day and age when a customer chooses to purchase shoes in a 'box store' and would like to continue to engage with retail service as such one would hope that the company that claims to be "the nation's best retailer' would have a bit more flexibility and desire to invest in new clients. Perhaps it is managers like this gentleman that are driving stores out of business. Please think twice before giving them your business as they have no business serving interested and eager athletes. Update: 25August After reaching out to corporate and sharing with a VP of customer service my dissatisfaction and overall feelings about the service this VP investigated the matter and explained the circumstances as to why the manager made the call in the first place. He then went on to explain the discretion the manager does have but did not use in this circumstance by offering a refund or an exchange. In the end I was invited back to return my shoes for a full refund. I did this last week and it is all resolved.

Staff acted like they would rather be anywhere else and couldn't care less that a customer had walked in. I was looking for a size 12 shoe and they said they didn't have any and offered no suggestions or help. Shame because it's a good location and they have a decent selection.

Do not buy online! I have ordered trainers online for the first time and I have never received them. However the cost of the trainers has been taken from my bank account. I have tried to reach them but the only way is by mail or by email. I have send them an email 5 days ago and they still have not get in touch. Next time I will order my trainers on Nike website even if they are more expensive. The service is very very poor! Very disappointed!

Really good. I was seen by Kelly, and all in all spent an hour and a half analysing my gait while running on their treadmill and trying on loads of different shoes - really patient, knowledgeable service and a surprisingly broad range of shoes given the size of the shop. If you want help having your gait analysed to get the right style of shoes, I recommend visiting in the morning when less busy.
