We are a friendly family run business based in the beautiful city of Oxford. We specialise in bike hire, guided bike tours and self guided bike tours

Story

Oxford, famous for its Universities and the dreaming spires is home to one of Britain’s largest cycling communities. All over the city you will find streets accessible only to pedestrians and cyclists and every day the diverse mix of bikes and people orientate themselves to work, for leisure and some even for exercise

Good service but the massive chain lock they give you is heavier than the bike itself!

Based on our experience Bainton Bikes is one of the worst bike hire places I've ever used. Honestly give 0 stars if possible. Told multiple different things about deposit and hire, bikes in a terrible condition, but to cap things off the manager is rude and unwelcoming. One of our hire bikes gears stopped working after 20 minutes cycling and the back gears were redundant. Half the lights stopped working on all the bikes after we switched them on, so we had to endure a dangerous ride back to our campsite in the dark. Seriously dangerous. To cap things off we accidentally lost a key for one of the bike locks on our ride. Our fault, but stand warned: they give you keys on carabiner with a crappy key chain, very easy to lose. They also don't have spare keys (yeah right!!) and charge £25 to replace the lock, locks that are £2.99 on eBay. Cheap rubbish, so the bikes can be easily stolen as well. AVOID BAINTON BIKES LIKE THE PLAGUE!

Good solid bike and lock, friendly staff, and a bargain at £15 for two days. Would definitely go back again.

Superb location, great local knowledge and down-to-earth hosts who seem to know everyone and everywhere around Oxford. I couldn't have asked for a better mini-break - and you also get to meet Scruffy the terrier, who is also a cycling fanatic. Top marks to Bainton Bikes for a great affordable holiday.
