We called in for lunch and the pub is beautiful with a good outdoor garden.nnThe food came quickly, we enjoyed the cheese garlic bread but not the sharing board we didn't like. The bread/crisp was rock hard so we left it. Please consider changing that part of the dish.nnI would have said something but noone asked us if we enjoyed the food.nnI'd go back again and choose something different.
According to the posts that I read before visiting this this establishment that 99 percent of the reviews gave this place a good score on the food and service. I visited this place yesterday evening 20/10/24 we pre ordered 24 hours in advance as we were told it would cut down the waiting times for the food to be served. So I ordered the garlic mushrooms in a cream sauce, granted it was served fairly quickly but was only just warm and 50% of what was on my plate was half a bread bun that was soggy from the sauce and in my opinion it didn't have much of a taste of garlic very disappointed as was my brother in law who ordered the same thing. For the main meal I ordered the mushroom and truffle risotto with a serving chicken another disappointment yes it arrived relatively hot on a plate but in my opinion was over cooked and served incorrectly and again I failed to taste the truffle big big disappointment very much doubt I'll be paying them another visit anytime soon
Arrived without booking with a large group, staff found use an area without issue, they welcomed the dogs and said hello to the baby’s. The 2 members of staff were great! Good was nice too!
Haven’t been for a while so thought we would try again. It took 25 minutes for someone to take a drinks order. Starters arrived quick but mains arrived with missing items as they had run out. No apologies or alternatives offered.nOverpriced and not great service. Used to be regulars and now we wont be returning.
Our recent visit to The Sun Inn in Retford was an absolute delight. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, making it the perfect spot to celebrate a birthday. The gastro-style food was simply exceptional. Every dish we ordered was cooked to perfection and presented beautifully. The quality of the ingredients was evident in every bite, and the value for money was outstanding.nThe staff were incredibly attentive without being intrusive. They were always on hand to ensure that our needs were met, and their friendly demeanor made us feel right at home. If you're looking for a fantastic dining experience in Retford, I highly recommend The Sun Inn.
