Hadn't been in this pub for thirty years. It's still got the same shabby chic look that almost every pub now has guess it saves on decorating?. Still a hipster crowd, not the same one from my last visit, and on a Friday night it was incredibly noisy. Fortunately there's spaces outside that are quieter. The beer is good, a lot from local brewers and the service is fast. On a Friday night it's not my thing but it's very popular and highly recommend by the regulars.
Local pub with massive space in and out The building is old which gives a vibe Visited for Sunday roast. The roast it self was very mediocre the lamb dry and overcooked without seasoning , beef like a shoe , salmon pan fried - nothing special. Their bar snacks were mediocre too - as the calamari was small portion for £7.5 and very soft for crispy. Delicious Bloody Mary Service chaotic and slow Very low hygiene standards Expensive paid £40 for a roast , and two drinks
Lovely clean pub with good service and excellent food. We went for Sunday lunch with friends and 3 kids and had a great meal. Service was good and food was even better. The beef croquet was outstanding and the Sunday roast was all excellent- we had a pork, a chicken and a vegetarian. All very good with heritage carrots, fantastic roasted potatoes and full body gravy. Yum!
Love this pub, always treated well by staff who go out of their way to accommodate all customers. Have just been witness to staff being treated appallingly by a rude and disrespectful customer. Due to no fault of their own the kitchen has had to close due to a gas issue. Customer became aggressive and rude towards staff who were doing their best to find an alternative solution, such as a different establishment that they had been in touch with and were available to cover the booking. The customer was having none of it and was making the atmosphere in the pub very uncomfortable for those of us trying to enjoy a nyd pint, including writing a negative and false review whilst still talking to the staff. However I commend the staff who managed to maintain a calm and respectful attitude whilst dealing with such arrogance.
We recently visited with a large group to celebrate my birthday. The service was fantastic as always, but the Sunday Roast was very disappointing. Although the different roasts were very tasty chicken, vegan, lamb, turkey, the portions were ridiculously small. I had never had a Sunday roast and left hungry before! We sure did this time! the meat portions were tiny, and the single slice of carrot, next to the rest of the very very few vegetables was shocking, specially for a £16-£18 per plate. It felt more like a kid’s menu. We love this place, and it is our go to pub for a drink, but I doubt we’ll be back for a roast!
Nice pub! Can get a normal range of beers, it’s generally quite busy but with a nice atmosphere. Has a covered outdoor area around the back - contrary to what you might think, doesn’t get that much sun out the back
We had our football social here last month and I'm so glad we did. Emma the assistant manager was a pleasure, she managed to get the match on for us even on a busy Friday night! and couldn't have been more welcoming - good vibes!
Was a bit disappointed to book an area for 20 3 weeks in advance to then arrive and only have a table for 12 people. Seems there were multiple large parties that had done the same thing in close proximity and it made things feel very crowded and busy. If the other parties had booked before me, would have appreciated having my booking rejected and having to find another venue. If you can't accommodate the bookings as requested, you probably shouldn't accept them
Couldn't hear a thing in here, way too noisy! If the pub is full of people is it really necessary to blast music at high volume as well? Nicely decorated inside though, clearly a lovely ambience when its a bit quieter...
Worst New Year’s Day in history. We made a booking for 3pm to have a nice outside meal. The kitchen was closed due to a safety issue, we didn’t received any email or call to let us know about the issue. After sitting for half an hour and having a drink we went to order food and to our surprise they communicated that the kitchen was closed. We asked if we could take some food from outside and eat in with another drink, not uncommon for any pub without food but they also denied this. So here we are on New Year’s Day without being able to book another place or have lunch, worst service ever and most of all the staff didn’t even care, specially the manager who wasn’t in and just sent an email saying it’s the policy of the pub when you have a kitchen !! . Won’t ever come back to this pub. Awful
