Canton Arms never disappoints! The food is always exceptional and definitely not your ordinary pub grub. The room is cosy and the staff friendly. Highly recommend it for a quality, thoughtful and hearty meal.
What lovely staff the Canton Arms has! A super pub with plenty of choice for beer both on cask and from the keg. A huge island bar, great. Simply put, a wonderful place to meet up and enjoy the vibe.
Booking is a must, even on a weekday! I’ve warned you! We tried to pop in one day and there was no table available. On hindsight, it was probably a Friday and we forgot after living away from London that we need to book to go to a good place to eat. We’ve managed to get a table during the very first seating on a Wednesday. But it was definitely worth the wait…. You can really feel the care for the food, fish soup and cuttlefish to start, very classic French food yet the flavour is current… pot roasted rabbit to follow with delicately seasoned creamy sauce.. then the honey panna cotta to end the meal.. The price is decent - in fact much more decent than any other eating places I’ve been in ages! The service was warm and welcoming, super pleased to have this place in our neighbourhood!
Fabulous Sunday roast, we went for a Christmas party on Sunday 5th . Staff could not have been more helpful, from accommodating 11 people, giving us plenty of time at the table 2hr45 the selection of dishes was amazing, the beef shin stew and mash sharer was melt in the mouth. The rare roast beef Sunday roast was the best beef I have had in a while , with super tangy horseradish. Lamb shank was also a winner. Special note on the smoked eel starter - delicious . Trudy our waitress was on the ball, super quick at replenishing those wine bottles. Will definitely be back again .
Very friendly and helpful staff. Excellent choice of drinks. Relaxed and friendly atmosphere. Really liked the place.
The slow cooked shoulder of lamb is amazing. The menu suggests that it is "good" for four, but for five or six people with some sides or starters would work out nicely.
Lovely seasonal pub food. I’ve been there with friends and family and it never lets you down. Friendly staff. Love it
Server was lovely and very busy but attentive. However food was mediocre and when we tried to order a dish meant for 4 people shoulder of lamb because one of the party has a good appetite and we’re quite willing to pay the price for 4 although only 3 people were eating it we were told it was company policy that they couldn’t do it ! We thought we had misunderstood but they were adamant - Makes no sense at all busy pub nice a drink but wouldn’t return
Really lovely atmosphere and beer selection, but just not enough options for vegetarians, which makes it a difficult choice for groups. Especially given its on the pricier end I would feel uncomfortable inviting anyone who could only choose from one main on the menu.
What a pub! I happily jump on the Victoria line from Walthamstow for an afternoon here. Come for the excellent wine on tap, stay for the toasties. They've usually even got a couple of cask beers on. Can get busy, but that's cos it's good.
