Great service and a fabulous location which is not too far from the motorway, yet peaceful. Dog friendly and there's a hilly common opposite for a walk. Good selection of beers at the bar. Breakfast is good and fairly priced too unlike some other establishments. The rooms are spacious, but furnishings are a little tired. The double bed was actually two singles bolted together. Overall, we were happy with our stay and felt it was reasonably priced.
Great little pub with rooms. Really welcoming. The staff are great and really kind. Rooms are lovely and comfortable. Only suggestion is to not put families with small children who like to run around the room at all hours of the day and night. Breakfast was lovely. We'll be back
Since a recent couple of manager changes over the last 12 months we hadn't been in with the new managers until today. What a great place this is once again. Nice to see it back to it's great self. The staff were ace and the food cracking. We've had 4 meals out over the festive period, some in well known more expensive places locally but today won. Anyone who went earlier in '22 during the pub's downturn should revisit ASAP. We'll be back regularly as we used to. Cheers all.
We stayed over for a weekend, it was the new owners first week and they were still finding their feet. The dinner options were very good quality and value, and they added breakfast. The standard of the rooms was average.
We visited today for Sunday lunch, both my partner and I had the triple roast, beef, pork and turkey, great portion sizes and unlimited roasties, yorkies and gravy! Nice warm welcome and great service. Would definitely visit again.Service: 5/5
Food and service were very good. Food was imaginative nicely presented. The waitresses were cheerful and helpful. The only problem easily put right was the guy singing. Way, way too loud. Conversation with friends was impossible.Service: 5/5
Enjoyed a pork Sunday roast after a long drive up to kendal to visit a friend. Very good value & plenty on the plate. Staff friendly & helpfulService: 4/5
Give this place a go! Under new management and headed in right direction. Friendly staff. Very dos ious bedroom and one of the most comfortable beds I’ve ever slept in. We not stayed one night . We had their home made pizzas - again fabulous. Clearly home made by a chef who knows what he’s doing. The other food looked great too. Prices very reasonable as well. It all looks better at night when the lights are on . First impression was a bit dowdy but I can tell from what the manager said she was planning that this will go from strength to strength.. Just a friendly suggestion. A bottle of water in the room would be a good idea and a note explaining Wi fi -,which is v good. Shower was hot but not powerful but it was fine . V clean room and bathroom. Recommended. V handy for Kendal .
Excellent beer, delicious food and polite, friendly service, we are local and will definitely be back regularly.Service: 5/5
I stayed here last month and booked 2 days due to the good reviews. Apparently there are new owners who don't seem to care much about the property. We arrived and were told there was no food at all despite the fact there's a pub with a kitchen. There would not be breakfast and the closest food was not convenient walking distance. We asked about cancelling our second night due to the lack of food and misrepresentation of the property many of the amenities listed were removed with the new owners. We were assured it would be no problem. We left the next morning and returned our keys. Now no one will return our calls or emails, and we can't get a refund. I would definitely not recommend staying here.
