The best Steak and Ale pie in the area! Ate here last year and loved it. Tried again this time, still great! I love steak and ale pie as long as it has a puff pastry lid! but have got fussy over the quality of them over the years. This place does the best one in the area. It's fabulous! Tastes amazing, huge portion of food, and they don't bulk the pie out with big chunky veg like other places do. The other meals seemed decent. No one complained! but I definitely won on choice! The pub itself it quite big, plenty of places to sit. They also have two pool tables. There is seating area outside the front, a small balcony at the back, and they have screens showing sports. There were a decent number of staff behind the bar, so even when it was a bit busy there was not a long wait. Overall, great establishment!
Great location within bowness, a short few minutes walk to the lake. The interior layout is a bit confusing as there isn't a reception to check in and you must go to the bar to be checked in. There's no lift so lots of stairs if you're on the higher levels. The rooms are spacious and clean. Food is decent, although not the best menu options for vegetarians.
Visited this large pub for a drink on an afternoon in Bowness-on-Windermere. Quiet on a Monday afternoon, this is a large and sprawling place. A bit old fashioned inside but I liked it - definitely not a chain pub. The beer was Moretti; as it was and as it should be. Several gaming machines dotted around - Thai Princess and Eye of Horus both available. No wins. Man swooped in after I used it for an immediate go - how very opportunist…
Came to the pub around 7:30pm - first round came to £40 we had a really good time. The service behind the bar was diabolical no emailed and no customer service. The big fella said we had to take our empty glasses back to the bar so going there job for them then came over at 9:25 pm after spending £50 on drinks and having a go at my daughter to get the dog out for 9:30pm bearing in mind we have just ordered drinks unaware of this and the dog fast asleep under the table doing no harm. We were not aware the dog had to be out early and they waited for us to order a drink before sending us out. This is awful I will not be returning the big guy behind the bar having a go at a 21 year old girl close enough to spit on her face. Considering we are regulars and we get down spoken to absolutely diabolical. Bearing in mind previous we have been here until 12pm on karaoke with 2 dogs !!! One of us had a hearing impairment and there’s no signs to say the dogs must leave at 9:30

In the middle of everything 5 min walk to the lake ,rooms are fantastic modern and the on suits very modern ,and if you fancy dancing night away night club in basement what more could you ask forRooms: 5/5

We went to a family wedding at Windermere so chose The Stags Head for a two night stay. Booking-in was a little hit and miss, with that staff being outside, smoking. Once she got sorted and gave us advice / instructions, we went to a very clean / tidy four-poster large room with good facilities. The breakfast is absolutely first class with all you need to enjoy it. Sadly, no evening meal which provides a benefit to going out to find another great place locally Review to follow. Overall, the Stags is dripping in atmosphere and history, going back centuries. There's a basement for a popular night club along with drinking hours to 01:00. Live music is stopped at 00:00hrs so sleeping is not a problem. A great place on the shore of Lake Windermere with plenty to enjoy which only 'The Lakes' can provide.
Bouncer is misogynistic and very rude, men behind were very roudy but treated with respect. However we where treated like dogs need sacking all of themRooms: 1/5
