Great place to visit. The audio tour is excellent. It's not too large to explore all of it and the history associated with it is fascinating.

St Mawes Artillery Castle. As you approach by road it looks almost insignificant. But on entering, it opens up into a wonderful example of clever design and military genius. Circle upon circle of 'defence and attack'. Great views. Free audio. Fun for kids.

Had an hour to spare at the end of a sunny spring afternoon and went to St Mawes Castle. The place is steeped in history and affords wonderful views over the Fal. There is a small car park adjacent that is free to visitors, and I really enjoyed the audio tour that was also free of charge.

Great day for young, old, alone or in a group. Real eye opener about the local history and you come away with more questions than answers, will be going back to learn more.
