Lovely bar and friendly service. Good place for a drink but the food is poor. My main course was tiny and bland.

I spend a great deal of my time in Cornwall each month where my wife and I rent a property for over 13 years now , and have seen a lot of changes inSt Mawes one of which is this Hotel the St Mawes , which once was the centre of the community , no more I am afraid , when it was a hotel for the community it was thriving within the community locals gathered there and spilled out in to the road , the sailing community supported it after various race days , need I go on . It is now a niche hotel !!! owned by niche people who are well known within the community for their dare I say over powering presence in the community . If they are That niche can the hotel explain when ordering a brandy one gets a tumbler !!! I bet the owner when serving his guest in in own home up the road ( with flag in garden pretending to be Cornish) serves his gust in an appropriate manner . Oh check the prices prior to a walk , ordered a pint of lager charged five pounds . Returned several hours later charged 3.45 challenged ah said the bar man tried to find you , I was sitting out side , point to note to management he produced a glass full of money and gave me the difference . Point to management think of your locals , and improve your customer service .

Lovely place to stop for some food and a coffee overlooking the bay. We did not stay at the hotel so we cannot comment on the rooms.
