We were very impressed with the friendliness and efficiency of the staff, nothing was too much trouble for them. The food was plentiful and excellent. Although the hotel is undergoing refurbishment we were not troubled by it and our room was as new. We cannot speak highly enough and would recommend to anyone. Our main holiday is usually a cruise and the food at this hotel compared highly against our last MSC cruise

Lovely people, nice rooms ours had sea view, brilliant. But a lot of stairs, make sure you state disabled when booking if needed, they will then put you near the lift.

I recently spent 5 nights at this hotel and was very disappointed with it. On check-in they tried to charge me even though I had already paid in full in advance. The "adjacent" car park was actually 75 yards down the road and round the corner. There was a leak in the ceiling in a corridor but at no point did it look like being fixed. The fire alarm went off once at 1am. But the final straw for me was arriving back one evening to find the room hadn't been cleaned. Excuse given - couldn't get key to work. How does a key just stop working when mine was fine? St Mawes was a lovely place and good base from which to explore. But I wouldn't stay at this hotel again.

Lovely old building. Staff are friendly and efficient. Would recommend the Shop & Castle.
