Have very knowledgeable staff and assisted with questions. Education regarding the pottery industry was provided. The site is being renovated by volunteers and they are trying to improve what is offered for the site. Would like to see the potential in the future. Gift shop was very extensive.
Enjoyed the time spent at Spode on a rainy afternoon. The shop has a wide variety of pottery, so if your interest is pottery, a visit is recommended. The museum is run by volunteers who were helpful and pleasant.
Highly recommend for pottery lovers. Learn a bit of history , workshops pottery painting and print making to attend, and a wonderful shop for stunning ceramic wares. Day well spent.
Charity run museum on the original Spodeworks site. A little small and clearly run to a tight budget but the charity volunteers are friendly and knowledgeable. The highlight is some of the 200 year old Spode bone china collection. Featuring the iconic blue and white wear. The charity is currently seeking to purchase more of the site to haverenough display space for the full collection. Many exhibits are displayed without glass allowing good photographic opportunities. Hopefully with enough time and funding this will grow into an important museum.
Although the museum is small it would be fascinating to talk to the demonstrators sadly they weren't there on my visit. I used to work there in mid 70's so it was nostalgic. Nice cafe on site too and first 2hrs free on car park.Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
Amazing experience for lovers of pottery. Very helpful staff and volunteers who are passionate about pots - just like us! Remember to budget at least an hour for the expansive gift shop which includes collectible, vintage, and antique pottery from around England, including of course tons of Spode items. While other shops in town are quite overpriced, the prices here are tantalizing and will leave you delightfully satisfied. New items arriving often.
Always a great time when I've been to the museum, shop and The Quarter. Takes me back to when me and most of my family worked there. Always someone there who worked at Spode to chat to. Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo wait
The Quarter @ Potbank, Elenora Street Stoke. This Superb establishment is second to none when it comes to Dining in Very Interesting and Different Surroundings. The food was Superb and Plentiful with some unusual takes on presentation, Chillie Beef made with real chunky Beefpieces rather than minced beef was a Superb twist. There is regular very tasteful entertainment during your meal, we were entertained by a Very Accomplished young Lady on Piano. I am a 'Five Pint' guy BUT with the cost of a pint being well over £5.00, I settled for one pint of IPA. I will not pay over inflated High Class Hotel Prices. This is Profiteering and Definately Keeps people away! I would otherwise be a Regular Cistomer!
An amazing effort to capture an important part of Stoke's history in the production of English Bone China. I'll return with my wife in spring 2024 when the museum refurbishment is completed. We will stay in the on-site hotel and dine in the on-site restaurant for the proper experience.Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
