I was taken to A&E via ambulance yesterday and despite the lengthy wait, all the staff were amazing! The system they have in place worked brilliantly and we felt cared for and were kept informed throughout every stage of triage and subsequent treatment. In addition despite how busy it was and the hundreds of people using the facilities, everywhere was so clean, including the toilets! Thank you to the initial paramedic, the ambulance service and Southend Hospital!
Been in the hospital with my newborn daughter for over a week, nurses have been nice. But I was standing at a window getting some fresh air when an Indian security guard on the night shift came at me very hostile and rude. It’s a shame you get rude people like this in a place like a hospital thinking they are something they are not pushing their weight around because they wear a security uniform.
I have been trying to get through to the orthopaedics appointments line for 4 days now and it is constantly ringing. This is disgusting I need to have a follow up appointment. As they have never contacted me before unless I ring up them out of the sky I get an appointment. This is an absolute joke but it’s not funny any more. What is anyone supposed to do???? The phone is never answered and apparently there is only 1 line to that department. How can this be in a hospital that covers a vast area I am absolutely disgusted with Southend hospital.
Mental health unit... Staff will create their own version of events when discussing patients or making notes with made up details thrown in. Staff will ignore your request for medication let me clarify, it was medication they prescribed to me within the hospital, PRN. should have not been an issue. Was told by a nurse my only option was to accept admission to a hospital in a heavily traumatising location or to be discharged. Went to said hospital where I was told I should not have been made to come here and they should have arranged an alternative. Enjoy sitting on an arm chair for days too. Few good staff. Not worth ever turning to this place.
My husband is a patient at the oral surgery unit. He had to miss his appointment due to having flu. In the meantime his problem flared up again. The unit were fantastic at getting him seen so quickly and getting him the treatment he needed. We are very grateful for the prompt, caring , professional service they provided.
I recently took my child after calling my local Dr's. I couldn't fault this hospital at all. Triage within minutes of arriving, paediatrics within 10, Xray within 15 mins. Overall in and out within 1.5 to 2 hours. We were informed all the way through the process and I thank the hospital and the staff for a speedy assessment.
Couldn’t have asked for a better place to give birth in. Looked after from all my scans to my labour, delivery and after care. We had to stay 5 nights and the level of care from the midwife’s, nurses etc was brilliant.
July this year my husband lasted 11 days in their care if that's what you call it. I know they are overworked and overwhelmed but compassion and dignity should be an essential part of care in hospitals, both of which were severely lacking in his care.
My partner Michael Graves has had 2 urology operations and addmiteded via A&E with large blood clot and he could not have been treated better by all staff. Big thanks to Mr Pavlakis urology consultant who was EXCELLENT Sara barnicroft & specialist nurses EXCELLENT treatment by all Thank you
Three times up the hospital with my daughter and three times they got it so wrong! Please please stop just trying to meet figures and turn around times! You’re all playing with peoples lives! Just patching people up and sending them packing! Please start getting it right first time!
