We visited there on mid August 2017 with family and children. We booked 2 platinum caravans which were new and clean. It's an old and basic caravan park which caravans are very close each other. Swimming pool is smaller and was not available. People had to book the swimming pool at early morning and we could use only 1 day so far. The caravan site is away from Lake District panoramic beauty which we didn't realise before. The bar and evening amusement for kids were alright which we found better in some other caravan parks. It seemed they had shortage of staffs on pick time.

Stopped here lots of times, our 2nd time in 3 weeks already this year will be stopping again in a few weeks,it's a lovely place, family friendly, staff are really nice and friendly aswell, foods brilliant, and it's a great place to stop as it's easy to get to lots of different places to see

good entertainment for kids and great walks but bar food wasn't great but at least I got some new soles for my shoes with the burgers

I went to Solway with my partner and 4 year old son. On arrival after a long drive my son need the toilet, so I took him into the disabled toilet (only one in the bar I could find) and to our surprise it was covered in blood! Literally all over the sink, floor and some on wall, I didn't even let my son wash his hands as it was the cleanest option. We went to our pitch (we were camping) and set up. The outdoor park was great, the soft play area needs a deep clean but my son enjoyed it. In the arcade part pretty much everything was broken and some machines took your money and didn't work , so this section was just a waste of time. The main problems came at night, despite it being quiet time from 10pm, this was far from the case, if anything it got 10 times louder. Lots of drunks arguing and shouting, we saw one couple in the trees having a quickie and the second night, the people who were stopping in tent next to us got hammered, was arguing, fighting and then while all were drunk, decided to get into the car and drive ( pretty much straight into our tent!) Considering there was a four year old in there asleep I was pretty shaken, and the fact they had been screaming at each other and psychically fighting and no security came or even walking around to check the place is secure and settled. I can overlook certain aspects like the general hygiene, after all it is camping. But some drunken idiots nearly knocking our tent with my son inside is another thing. This camp site is perfect for people who want to party but wouldn't advise for the safety of your kids!
