Lovely pub just off A66, beautiful views, delicious food, friendly service! We stopped by for late Sunday roast before heading south and it was absolutely fantastic. Highly recommended!
Decided to try it for tea tonight and wasn't disappointed at all. The food was so lovely, staff friendly and even though they were busy, they still made sure we were attended to.
Enjoyed an excellent Sunday roast here having arrived after the kitchen had closed. Martin the landlord went out of his way to make sure I had a meal. This is a proper British pub with a fantastic friendly team serving brilliant food and beers.
came for tea for the evening and was not disappointed. amazing food and even better service. martyn the chef, waiter, owner AND barman was amazing, especially considering how much he was doing. dessert menu was massive and everything was spot on. thanks martyn 10/10
After reading previous reviews and being in the area we decided to eat here. Based on cosy country pub? Not the best food, dissapointed as it was our only evening out with a friend. See pictures
We stayed here for one night as a stopover in Campervan on our way to Scotland. The owner Martin and his Staff were very welcoming and friendly, Food was great, and they had a good selection of beers. If you need a break between travelling this is the place to be. It was a pleasant stay and considerably quiet seen as your next to the A66.
Fantastic meal as always. We had the pork madellions and Sechwan chicken and king prawn sizzler. Excellent value for money and excellent quality food. Would definitely recommend
Very pleasant barmaid. Sunday lunch was very good, with good quality beef and plenty of well cooked veg.
Fillet steak was only about 1cm thick so was dry and over cooked, mediocre apology but no offer to reduce bill, also was supposed to come with a garlic sauce but no sauce. Girl working behind the bar on her own also taking food orders so was overworked. Would not recommend
Old fashioned, quirky, but excellent. Decor and surroundings seem dated at first sight, but once inside it all works perfectly. Food was perfect, plentiful and the service was prompt, friendly and really could not have been better. Would certainly go back.
