Appalling service. Overcooked starter. Plates not collected on neighbouring table. No cutlery served with starters. Filthy windows. Outside strewn with cigarette butt's and discarded menus. Over priced. Avoid at all costs!
Always a mixed experience. The menu is pretty good and the half price Monday food offer makes it great value. But it's almost always short staffed, sometimes it's fine but occasionally waiting for food far, far too long. The tostadas are always a good option, beefburgers less appealing since the new menu came in. Also has serious supply issues, we went in last week only to be told they had only two deserts left - how can that even happen with today's supply chains to a major chain - baffling.
Excellent and very inexpensive lunch options on weekdays. Really good food! The staff is very nice and we like the private outside area in the front. Even though it's on the High Street the wall adds privacy and security. I haven't been in the evening for a good few years but can attest that for lunch it's a great choice.
I had the chance to visit this pub/restaurant yesterday for a late breakfast. The outside was very well maintained and the inside was lovely and seemed to be an upscale pub. I was pleased with my intial impression. My partner and I ordered drinks and I also ordered the eggs benedict. The cost was reasonable at £4.95. While there were not alot of patrons at the pub, my wait for food was lengthy, I had seen others who had arrived after me, being served before me. But as I wasn't in a terrible hurry, I let that pass. When my meal did arrive, it was horrible, I only had to look at the plate to know that the Hollandaise sauce had curddled, I rejected the meal and was told they would prepare a new plate of the same. I waited again, and when the next plate arrived, the sauce had split, the bacon burnt. I asked to have something else instead. I ordered the full english, when this came, the toast was untoasted, the sausage had been microwaved, the eggs were not cooked properly and still had a slimy look to them. I had asked for my money back, which it was refunded. I don't understand how a pub/restaurant can look the business, but employ unskilled chef/cooks. My new impression of this establishment is that it lacks customer service qualities, attention to details, and just the all around good food for good money. We work hard and all we ask for when we visit a restaurant/pub/or any other place where we are asked money for services is that people actually care about their job and that the little things do matter. My understanding is that there were two chefs/cooks,Dominik Janiak and Maciek Zukowska, I was given their names by the head barman/manager. It would do your customers and your establishment a very big favour by replacing them with those that actually know how to cook, or retrain them to uphold themselves to a high standard. You don't have to be a million dollar company to employ people with high standards of service. Definately a black mark for this quaint area Marlow.
For a cheap drink and a bite to eat this place is perfectly fine, but don't expect anything fancy. Biggest bugbear is that the speakers are located right above the tables not the bar area and they crank up the music exceptionally loud, so you can't have a conversation. Nobody goes out in Marlow for a dance!
Food and service was dreadful, we were not told if we had to go up to the bar or not to order so sat for 30 mins deciding what to do. After we finished food it sat on our table for a good 45 mins before it was removed by this time a table of 4 had turned up next to us. They were seen to straight away with service from their table. Sad to say I would never go back again
Visited Saturday night, my first and second choice of beers were off, third choice didn't taste right, tried another beer, still didn't taste right. Also they made my friends cocktail wrong, twice. Pub was like a wetherspoons with music. We soon left.
we started off with drinks then decided to have Nachos . Service by Alen he was excellent was helpful and polite good service .Nachos were good too presentation also never had nachos were cheese is has been layed through crisps . Will definitely return again . will definitely com
This pub is getting worse and worse. The portions are smaller but more expensive. Once we ordered charcuterie deli board and it said for more that 3 people as a sharer. What we received: one slice of parma ham, once slice of cheese, a piece of pepper. That wasn't even enough for one person!! Another time my boyfriend ordered chicken caesar salad, what he got: a plate full of old lettuce a piece of chicken and all for about £10! Then that was a nail in the coffin: Mondays half price on food, now you have to reserve a table in advance even there were few empty tables, be on a stupid list!!! You couldn't order anything at the bar. So we left and they lost money we were willing to spend on food and drink! That the worst pub to eat in Marlow!!
Had our christmas party there. Very disappointed compared to other years. No disco, no atmosphere, it was not alot like christmas at all. The food was nice but sparce too. We left and danced else where.
